new board too much V...?

Classic reply right there.

The reason I would sand it out is a lesson on how a single factor might not be the reason for the performance characteristic.  If you sand the v out and the board still feels slidey or slow then you’ll know that the v wasn’t the whole problem.  V’s are tricky and they need to work with your outline, foil, fin set up and, especially rocker.  Depending on their depth they will affect paddling and trimming because of drag but the trade-off is a real nice feel when you carve your turns.  You just need to balance it out.  I wouldn’t use them in a groveller unless you were surfing a point or lined up wave with some push down the line.

quit drinking this you musclebound surf pro!

Look at him go! Fins are def out! roflmao!

Here’s how he gets his “fins out” by going over da falls! That’s how. Ps: those little punk boards wouldn’t float a turtle-you dickh**d!

Lets assume that the Avatar picture Finzout uses is him.  Looks like he’s surfing quite solid.  He’s posted pics of his board builds…all good stuff.

You talk / troll too much Shapa.  Howz bouts ya shutz ya trap till ya build a reputation with equally impressive pictures of your surfing, shaping and glassing abilities.  Till then…

I think I’ll use U as my role model… no I wouldn’t do that! I’m not trying to be popular pro shapers - like you two… have u ever fugured out how to draw your OWN template YET??? Commercialized clucks! 18.5" wide garbage. Kook boards.

Isn’t MAGENTA kinda girly? Is that magenta fish for a grl, or is it YOURS?

WTF are you talking about Troll?  If you’re trying to knock me for taking advantage of some of the templates on Blending Curves I’m proudly guilty.  It’s a great resource that I am very thankful for.  I’ll give the guy credit every time I use his stuff cause its top notch.  He deserves a lot of credit for putting together such a high quality resource at no cost and I’m more than happy to give him all the credit he deserves.  I’ve made my own templates for years ya dumbbumblefark and I am very happy to have the new resource for quality templates.   That is what this site used to be all about and what his site is all about.  Its unfortunate that this site is now dominated by trolling posts by you.  I can’t help but notice that since your arrival other quality posters have stayed away as you’ve sucked the oxygen out of the site.  The funny thing about you is you say these things thinking you are insulting someone but all you really are doing is revealing what a total jackwagon you are.

got plenty of homemade templates and curves too if you’d like to see

got more surfing shots aswell if you’d like to see

I surf for fun,and being31 years old and a father to a 12 year old son who isn’t interested in surfing,i definitely don’t surf everyday

infact half the reason i started having a go at shaping my own boards is because i actually have chrons/ ulcerative colitis (for 11 years now) and am homebound alot

so instead of being frustrated by time out of the water,i have a shaping room which keeps me feeling happy in the meantime.

I don’t come on here to boast or type shit for the sake of it, i use the site to learn and gather information.

I am definitely not trying to be a “popular pro shaper” lol i rarely even write my name and dims on my boards, i don’t intend on making a logo anytime soon.

For the record,i also like to restore cars and motorbikes and grow fruit trees and bonsais in my spare time too, this hobby slots right in with those.

That was my thaught aswel, im going to add plugs for quad rears first and see how it surfs then, failing that, i will probably sand out the v. Like you say, it would make for a good learning experience.

Yes Shapahole , it is my girls board mate, but i have ridden it and so have my mates.

HERE HERE!!! Im ready to leave this site for this exact reason.!

Are you sure that MAGENTA board isn’t YOURS? let’s see some "water time! Vids pls, board count! Oh, you need to go out to prove ur a surfer…

Hey man, I missed the part you have a health prob. I’M SORRY. Your boards are looking better lately. Let’s shake hands and uh I wish people might read I was just joking. Sometimes I post bcuz I don’t get into talk about the latest pop outs… I hope your health improves. Sorry -finsoutfordaboys. Cheers mate

Shapaholic,

You could do the same… Infact, if you made your own templates how come you’re not using them? I dunno, I’d just be doubtful of using a template that wasn’t made by someone I trusted as a good solid shaper. It’s like riding a board from Timbuktu…is it gonna be reliable, is it going to funcion well? If not, forget it. Do you see where I’m going with this? I dont want my surfboard out of a crackerjack box.show me sum reviews of people tear it up, show me
A clip of you rippin a wave -then I’d believe it’s a template worth using. But show n me a cool colorful board don’t tell me much.

finsOUT,

i made a board for myself not too long ago with some pretty deep Vee in the tail. About 1/2" if i remember. Im not a very good surfer, but i do enjoy the ride. Felt good underfoot. Had a much more accomplished surfer surf it down in central america. He loved it, couldnt stop ranting about how locked in you feel.

In my case i chalk this up to 100% luck. During the shaping process i was going for that “locked and loaded” feeling. With that much Vee a good distance up the tail 14?" on a 6’, i would imagine drag is a big problem. IMO, i think what works here is a narrower tail outline, and a slightly increased tail rocker, lower entry rocker. More of a planing surface up front, but shaving off the excess surface area in the tail section. Pair that with a mid length Vee (not sure how long that would be) with a slightly higher(deeper?) Vee, id bet good money that board would be fast furious and riding on a rail.

On your board, maybe one of the things was just a little excesive. Maybe too much tail block? Too deep of a Vee? Most people here are more experienced at shaping and conecepts then i am. Just thought i should share my thoughts.

Id like to see this board, PM me if you have any shots of the tail.

[/quoteThanks mate, this is it the outline, sorry i havent got a pic of the bottom on hand .

I like the clear on that. Very professional.

Not sure if its my angle or just the way the board is sitting, but looks to me as if you have a deep tail rocker that moves a good 1/4-1/5 through the board. Maybe this isnt the case, but just something to chew on.

I may not know surfcraft, but i do know my boats. Been boating and sailing all my life. What i can compare this to is freeboard. If you were to look at something like this CarolinaSkiff youl notice the overall rocker of the thing is basically not there especially through the tail section. The flatter tail makes the engines job easier of pulling the hull up onto a plane. Im sure you know this but hey i figure why not cover all the bases.

Now if we look at the nose. it has SOME freeboard. cant really call it much freeboard at all as its more for cutting waves but for the sake of this argument hear me out

Apply that same idea to the tail. Very shallow long entry Vee, but instead, slightly smaller higher tail, and flatter nose. As your weight shifts forward so does the center of gravity over the Vee, high low pressure, and a nice flat planing area like our CarolinaSkiff, while also maintaining that small amount of “freeboard” in the tail. The low entry rocker makes it easier for water to flow under the board without bending and moving all that much.

Take a look at these two transoms below. Kind of what im getting at here with this stupid boating analogy.

Curious too see how this bad boy turns out.

Again, shut your pie hole and go dig around this site.  The build threads and surf pics are out there.  The rest of us didn’t just fall off the turnip truck like you did Troll.
