Noosa Heads

I LOVE noosa!!!

I’m a local, heh…

If you can, I’d be leaving it until after Xmas.

November & December possibly the worst months of the year for surf; unless we luck a cyclone out in the Coral Sea.

Like Scot says, late January… or better still late February-early March.

There is the Noosa Longboard festival early March & they always seem to get waves…

It gets crowded anytime over these periods, especially if there is a swell running; during a cyclone swell “all roads lead to Noosa” .

im headed to brisbane!! i cant believe it. i really just cant. im poor and work too much and cant believe im going to australia. its all really random.

ill be there from the 6th of december to the 21st. im renting a wicked camper and driving from brisbane to sydney and surfing. its sick.

a word of advice …

just check what camper “wicked” will give you before you arrive .

two poor tourist guys here in perth got given one with

"a hard man is good to find " , and a giant penis painted on it .

they wrote a disclaimer on the back window

“yeah , go ahead and laugh all you like …WE did NOT chose this van !” [true story …I wish I had taken a photo of them standing next to it , with a pissed off expression on their faces , a la “the toy yoda girl” !]

just a warning …

cheers

ben

HILARIOUS!

poser, I got the envies for you–how are you doing it?

I’d be feeling that stoke for a California trip right now though…or So. Mex

my pops has a shitload of frequent flier miles which expire come december. the ticket was covered. it was $1400 and the miles covered 1200 of it, so i paid 200 and split the camper with my girlfriend who is actually in new zealand right now doing a semester abroad. i cant wait to go to byron. after seeing singlefin:yellow ive wanted to go there.

<----- JEALOUS!

how was alaska? after leaving ventura, keith and i went down to san clemente for awhile…had a killer time, and found some really fun waves. then our lives go back to “normal” while you just keep on livin’ the dream. what i wouldn’t give…

Hey soulstice…How did you like california? Im sure it was a good time, but are the waves decent enough that its worth wearing a wetsuit year round? I too am from the east coast, and my girlfriend and I are thinking of moving to cali. Really the only thing holding me back are the crowds and being a kook in a new place, and the cold water. Were alot of the spots really localized? or pretty mellow if you gave respect?

who wears a wetsuit year round? water temps were about 67-72 depending on location.

I wear a wetsuit year-round :frowning:

Today: air at the beach: 65* & foggy. air .5 mile inland: 75* & sunny. air 15 miles inland: 85* and hot.

Water about 60*. 64* or so is as warm as it gets. Down to 46* in January. But…glassy and only 3 people out

I wear a full suit year round, too. About 100 miles south of Benny 1. Hood and booties, too. The hood is so my ears do not grow closed and I don’t get an ice cream headache diving under waves or swimming for my board. The booties let me surf for 2 plus hours before my feet turn to ‘stumps.’ Mike

hey brand.

alaska was really sick, but it was so nice just to see my family. i miss them so much. it was really good to surf with you. im really glad you and keith came out. it was a pleasure having you here, my fellow east coasters. I wish the surf could have been good but compared to the slop your used to (the slop i used to be used to) it was decent.

how was your drive back? where did you surf down south?

keep in touch, and my door is always open,

see ya,

Bobby

hey, man…we really enjoyed our time in ventura. the surf was glassy every day. the people were all pretty cool. and two words: TACO VALLARTA!

san clemente was pretty cool, too. we spent most of our days at san-o and the surrounding beaches. night surfs were at lower trestles (with plenty of moon light). and we made a few little day trips north (found some dumping waves at laguna beach).

the drive back wasn’t bad. well, it was bad in the sense that we really didn’t want to leave. but, we all knew the day would come. and shortly after getting into arizona, it started raining pretty hard, and a giant moving truck overturned and went skidding sideways down I-10. aside from that, it was a pretty uneventful drive to houston, and then a quick ride to tallahassee, and just a little chip shot home from there.

and my dog is doing much better now…so that’s good.

can’t wait to get myself back to california.

so, proneman or whoever else. whats the best bet. im leaving in a month. brisbane to sydney. do i take the 1? is there a 1 to take? i think there is.

i wnat to spend several days in byron veggin out.

so is there a coastal highway to cruise and does it make costal access easy like the 1 in cali?

Brisbane is better for the locations you wish to visit

Hey Mate, Yeah there’s a highway between the two, but mostly just off the coast.

Grab a map and keep taking the exits to the coast.

Send me a message when you’re here if you wish and I’ll give you some directions to head.

Cheers

Hey Poser, I live just outside Lennox and work in Byron. I’ll happily give you some tips on spots when you get here, just let me know.

Scored 4ft Angourie 2 weekends ago for a solid hour with NO ONE out, except me & my buddies!!! How I love to say that, how it seems to sicken everyone I tell =D

Truth is, throw the timetable away, every few K there’s a sweet gem waiting… Get your boardies on & get over here!!

so im not going to need a wetsuit then? nothing at all, even though i get cold pretty fast?

im definetly hitting angourie, i want to see rainbow bay and maybe surf there, and im looking to spend a solid 4 or 5 days in byron, surfing, and hanging out.

byron is the most exciting part, to me.

ill get a map. im damn excited.

A wetsuit???

…a wetsuit???

…in December? The water is going to be about 77 degs! You won’t have to worry about the cold - the afternoon jellies are the party-poopers though.

definately get a map. Byron is cool, but can get a little ‘annoying’ and the surf can get rammed. Take a drive south for a couple of hours, pull up in a National Park… you’ll be sharing your campsite with goannas and emus, and the waves with no-one.

You’ll love it!

poser,

you may need a wetty as you get closer to sydney if you feel the cold, otherwise if the sun is out you will be fine in boardies (baggies).

post a pick of your board (or your mug if your game) so if us east coasters see ya we can say g’day.
