so im not going to need a wetsuit then? nothing at all, even though i get cold pretty fast?

im definetly hitting angourie, i want to see rainbow bay and maybe surf there, and im looking to spend a solid 4 or 5 days in byron, surfing, and hanging out.

byron is the most exciting part, to me.

ill get a map. im damn excited.

Hiya Mate!

for what it’s worth and being that i surf everyday on the central coast and have had numorous trips up north i’d definatly take a springsuit.

The wind can get pretty cold. Angourie is definatly my favourite wave up their but oooo there’s so many fun waves.

tip: spend more time in National parks away from the crowds and explore some very fun/beautiful and unridden beaches.

Bah! You’re all soft. I’m in boardies now!

well… not right now, but I was at lunchtime

A rashvest is a good idea too, coz you’re likely to burn the skin off your back otherwise.

This is probably cheating a bit but why don’t you get a copy of Wave finder Australia. Here is the link.

If you have a bit of time when in Sydney and you want to take your hire van for a spin go for a drive down the south coast of Sydney between Sydney and Wollongong. It’s a really nice coast road and there is heaps of beaches to choose from with good surf. Make sure you take the coast road and not the highway. There is also some beaches in the National park south of Sydney that have some good surf but require a hike. This is a bit of gold I probably should not be telling.

Oh yeah the water temp isn’t to bad at the moment and should warm up by December. I think a wetsuit might be a waste of space. Especially up the north coast. A good rashy and plenty of sunblock is a must.

Cheers, JD

Yeah your right! i’m soft!

mind you i did were boardies today and yesterday for 4 sets of 2 hour surfs.

seriosly though bring a 3mil beaver tail for the windy days and you’ll be sweet! atleast bring a 1-2mil long sleave rashie.

our water temps are good but when the wind kicks in you’ll be glad you did.

Have Fun

Josh.

ps… hope your taking a longboard to Noosa! its super fun on a shortboard but on a mal… oooo! FUN!

the run down so far.

right now im on my 5th day at byron bay. magical place. the waves have been pretty small so far, but iv e been having fun in the crystal clear bathtub water called the ocean. i caught the pass two days ago and ti was real small, but ridable. i caught on eoutside and had a really sick two second or so tube ride, clearest tube ride ive ever had. seriously. i mean i was in this little sand sucker and could se ethrough the lip to the sky, and could see the grains of sand to my left through the tube. it was insane. then i got worked. that wave must be one of the bes twaves on earth when its big. it must just go and go and go and go and go. the othe rpart of byron has been surfable every day, south of the pass, where wategos beach is. its real fun up there, paddling out at the tip and riding a few long mushburgers all the way to wategos and walking back. good noseriding. good waves for relaxed surfing. good sunburns!!!

noosa was amazing. a little too rich for my blood, but real mellow and quiet which is what i like. surfed first point a bunch of times. it was a lot of fun. just like malibu. the wave lets you take your time. surfed in coolangatta as well. rainbow bay was pretty fun, but not really my scene.

although nimbin was great! you can buy mushrooms over the counter. and byron is the perfect place to take them…if you are into that sort of thing. were headed down to yamba and angourie today. hope the swell picks up. I don tthink it will, and thats fine too.

is australia always windy?

my favorite thing so far about australia is that surfing is just waht everybody does. its much more part of the culture then it is in cali. in cali, it sthe cool thing to do. its a whole style in california. its all clothing and trucker hats. here down under the same crap still exists, but not nearly as much. here surfing isnt so much the cool thing to do. its just somethign everybody does. ya know?

Great to hear your having fun mate!
