I recently [today in fact!] burnt some shots onto disc , of what I have been up to over the past few months , resin wise [surfing / wave shots may come at a later date / ‘chipper files’ thread ]
cheers and keep surfing !
ben
so …here we go …
firstly , the work area [one fair sized glass sheet , which i subdivided up into four areas , so i can do four panels in a few hours …
"glow in the dark’ panel …
an ‘art’ panel [3-5 layers only of 4oz cloth , so it fits in a photo frame [ or christmas / birthday , etc cards !]
Suuuwheet! Fins from some of those pigmented panels would probably look like old-fashoined marbles (more fluid) when they're all foiled up and polished. I really like those glowing 747's too. A person could probably catch a giant squid or two with those during a night session (or be caught).
hassle your local glasser [actually , preferably , BEFRIEND him !] , so you can get yourself a big bag of offcuts
then ,
get yourself a big sheet of glass
subdivide it up [if you like , as per opening photos in this thread]
then , measure out the neccessary resin for each panel
i use between 33-40 layers of 4 and 6oz per panel , on average …that’s cos i do probox thickness fins
pour out resin onto the glass
if you’re going to do swirls , add the colours at this stage [i have video of this on a thread here somewhere]
then ,
i laminate 3-6 layers of cloth at a time [with clear lam resin]m , using a roller
hopefully if you do a search under either ‘chipfish61’ or chipfins61 , and ‘fins’ or ‘fin panels’ , there 'should ’ be plenty of photos and hopefully a bit of advice there , too?
start with a bagful of glass offcuts [try to befriend a glasser ...or else , like me , you'll have to pay up to $8aus per metre for the cloth ...gets WAAAAY pricey !!]
once again chipper you have impressed and inspired me. where do you get the luminous powder for your glow-in-the-dark panels (if you dont mind me asking)?
