i’m talking about the two yellow-liddles… i mean seriously. they’re like a BLEEDING mirage. double vision. beer goggles. hull goggles.
mess with your mind indeed…

Looks like my 7’9". I’ve had some good times in smaller, peaky beachbreak on my board.
Jim
every once in a while greg will do a run of boards with color.these turned out bitchin’ total mind machines…was at kp’s today and he finally got wround to sending a template to greg that i think, when done, will really freak people out. stay tuned…met a cool cat named steve who bought one of the yellow boards.
already freaking out…
C’mon Matt,
Give us a hint at least. Are they designed to be short boards (under 7’) or more standard length (over 7’)?
Jim
Is this something new (or a new old idea)?
Will there be more?
I’m wiping drool from my keyboard and wondering if she really will divorce me if I buy one more.
i’m bettin’ that they’re BOTH long gone by now…man Mollusk has it together! i saw the Stoner show today when i was down in Venice. B Hilbers was there dropping off a new regiment of sticks, the man can SHAPE!
it will be something old, micro, revisited and refined…now i musgo…
to be fair it kind of looks like the KJ siglo or the the wide tailed wilderness greenough template for the early 70’s that dennis Ryder shaped me 2yrs +ago so is it a copy or what?
Those could be fighting words. Remember, GL did all this stuff before, experimented with paper thin, down to 5’4" etc, etc. This is a refined revisit. And to quantify, yes others did this before also.
Like fashion it all comes back, the good and the bad (not this). Soon the trend will be longboards again, or maybe Lazer Zaps or even those funky Bunker Pipeline boards.
Actually, they look very much like a Liddle/Bojorquez/Lloyd flex-tail I used to ride back in '74…especially the foil.
KP, what did you put in Greg’s coffee to get him to tint those???
scott- it’s not a copy but an old template of greg’s that he pulled out of the cobwebs so to speak. siglo is a board that came about when kopps saw an old blank sitting around at dirt’s place-one known as “magic carpet” by a guy who was a liddle rider.(it’s over 35 years old). kopps and dirt drew out a similar template and cut it out and shaped most of it .Kj took about a half hour to finish it off. so it’s all connected one way or another…
It was 1 hr or more I was there, and it wasnt the greatest shaping set up. The idea was started by a board I have a 5’0’’ Wilderness shaped by Richie West in 69-70 and the Magic Carpet cut out by the late Steve Whemple in 1970-71 but never finished BLA BLA BLA!!!----- WHO CARES.
BLA BLA BLA!!!----- WHO CARES.
thats right I don’t, just sayn its a board it looks cool , it probably going to be able to drive it more closer to the tail than say a smoothie.
frankly i am hesitant to respond to your post KP simply because i don’t know you personally. text always takes on a new meaning when it’s on a public bulletin board like this, the subtext never translates the way we want it to. if we were face to face you’d see in me a genuine interest that you’re likely to have a more positive response to. i think we all care, this community is cool! it’s interesting to know that the shapers got together and sort of mixed and matched on siglo 21…it’s an evolution that we are all chomping at the bit to hear more about and you are a huge part of that KP, as was S Whemple. it predates my birth, not by more than a year or 2 but still it’s something that happened which is totally applicable to the way i want to surf today. judging from the group reaction it matters to others too. i hope that you’re not too frustrated by all the BS (which is just talk), that you can see a new group of guys TRYING to do something that perhaps has already been tried, but who are stoked to revisit it with a fresh take - if for no other reason that WE haven’t gone there and done that for ourselves yet. GL states on his site that he isn’t stoked on boards shorter than a certain height. based on the interest of many surfers - some younger guys - other shapers like KJ are willing to go there and beyond. more bladed, less S deck and flattened and thin as F behind the box - just like the “death board” right? NUUUTS! we want to ride it all, and if we can’t then we want to hear about it just to make us feel a little more confident on our next wave. innovations are near impossible to come by as everything under the sun has been tried!!! or has it? let’s all find out! let’s make some boards that ride like DOGS so that maybe one very sick fast board can “bust down the door” all over again. i know you get it, everyone here digs your posts, how you surf, what you’ve done for us etc. there are no “sides” to take for or against GL - he’s the shit to every one of us and always will be. but dude - LOOK at the people he’s inspired, they’re cool in their own light too
unbelievable.
who knew that these boards would create such a stir…it is interesting to see all the different ones being built and the move towards the shorter ones. who knows, we all may be back on micro stubs before it’s all over.carry on…
Here’s a pic from today (by a buddy of a buddy), I had to work but man I hope some of you were able to hit it.
love to see those pics of your 6’2 GeeBee
i’ve heard or read that Andreini only shapes on the side, because he works full time in some other field. so i that why there is no Andreini website? i’ve only seen a clip on him on the mollusk surfshop website.
