post Hull pics

allan – would be nice to see profile/foil shot.

i’m not sure if it’s the angle of the shot (center one), but it looks like it’s got more nose rocker than usual for a hull. ( i’m not even sure if you would consider this a hull, as it seems pretty flat bottomed and hard railed.) but it’s an interesting board, what ever it is. if poss, a piccy of it being ridden would be cool too.

Rgds,

jason

the man that shot these rides a 7’0 (finless lately…i’ve seen him doing 360s near the inside) and he rides one of the yellow 6’3s posted here. he’s not on swaylocks but he’s got a crazy blog over at

http://thecentralshaft.blogspot.com/

checkerize it…there is a sick shot of him coming off the top hard at malibu on what i THINK is his 6’3?

That’s looks like a pretty small/weak wave. Looks more suited for a 9’4" than a 6’2".

allan, i just went in and checked out your website. you got some great stuff there … i loved the flextail stuff ( nextboard).

Rgds,

jason

I don’t know if it qualifies as a true hull- the rocker’s quite different- but its got some belly…

meanwhile nico sb and his gal stopped by the ranch on their way out of the sespe sunday afternoon…90 degrees and beautiful…good to meet them both…talk around the bbq that night was of hulls-past and present-with the likes of liddle, gross, masiel and bowler being discussed…

Bowler in the new Surfers Path on surfing in Alaska COOL! pun intended.

My new 6"3 Velo inspired hull shaped by ryan lovelace of PC surf. talk about sweet.

Hey Matt,

Thanks again for having us over… we had a great time. I was stoked to talk hulls with you and Andy around the campfire… You’re a wealth of knowledge on hulls and the differences in approaches to the design amongst the shapers. I’ll keep an eye out for ya’ at the point.

the pleasure was all ours! hope to see ya at the point…

I love this thread…

New 7’6’’ Bob Miller hull: 19x23x23.75@9"x16x3

rocker: N 3 7/8 T 1 1/2

More hull forward & slight roll in the mid to dead flat tail for the last two and a half feet

Fin box 10" up from tail

7.5 + 4oz. deck and 7.5oz. bottom

Last two days in waist high stuff with nice offshore winds

Lots of glide and trim, cutbacks are… um… tricky or at least thought out.

Anyway here she is:

Hey Motif,

Do you know what blank Bob used?

Thanks,

Great looking board, love the foil on that machine.

Heres a tip on cutbacks on these designs, as you see a time to cutback on the wave let the board run just a bit longer and lower in the wave instead of trying to cutback midface, if you do this the board FITS better. Try and used more even pressure, instead of just jammin it like you can on 3 fins.

I keep thinking about a hull with a tapered or half or 3/4 stringer or maybe none at all but glassed with the difficult to work with ‘Resin X’.

Is there a way I can get a Liddle or maybe a Spence this way.

The flex romance is rooted in me noodle.

I know Zamora gets his flex fishes done at Moonlight but I cant see getting a Liddle shaped blank shipped. Or can I?

Any help out there?

the above text was sent to me from an amigo - any ideas anyone?

hilbers(fineline) just finished a hull with parabolic stringers. word is-so far- that the flex is unreal…

I got to see a parabolic stringered Dennis Rider longboard that had some unreal flex, he might do one.

Jim’s Spence is one beautiful and clean machine. when you guys put it on the ground and pushed on the nose and tail i knew i was a spitballing bubble gummer

thanks for the food for thought all

From what I’ve heard, I think the parabolic stringers are the way to go for both flex AND strength (not that I know anything about parabolic stringers…).

the first time i saw some walker blanks with prabolic stringers at foams, fins and fiberglass, my first thought was these would be unreal for hulls! my second thought was they would probably be a pain in the ass to shape the rails right with the wood placed out there like that. apparently it is a pain to shape the rails but the payoff might outway the hassle(might cost more to buy one as well)
