Well, there are new “clips” on Liddle’s site now: D.Lloyd, K.McKnight, J.Patton…
http://www.liddlesurfboards.com/clips.html
Finally someone surfing backside (J.Patton clip).
I have only had a couple of sessions but already he smoothest ride I’ve ever had! Float and paddle are surprising, and it catches really well. Take-offs are very secure and no problems backside, the board just picking a line. The extra weight must add momentum and more acceleration. The shape is very foiled and fluid, with rolled v ahead of the fin, and apparently the same as Steinys 8’. I expect long drawn out moves, and fast down the line flight. Need more time on cutbacks, but the board seems to know where its going and the feeling is great!
Brian Hilbers and myself are doing a few longer Liddle designs that are Gregs designs that are over 8ft. Greg and I get a lot of requests for his longer boards but it is not possible to ship them from Hawaii. These boards will be glassed to Gregs specs, the first design will be the 8’7’’ that is back on this thread. Also a nice longboard spoon, and some other shapes that are the real keepers weve had over the years. These boards will have a different Logo than Gregs , so as not confuse his shaped boards with Liddle designs boards. Also Hilbers-Putnam surfboards is doing a very few Steve Krajewski aka Dirt Machine Jaws model , hand shaped by Brian from Steves OG Jaws board and hand painted by Steve with the Jaws mouth on the bottom , resin-glass tail and hand foiled fin by Steve , also each one will be painted( no 2 alike) by Steve. Warning!! these are Extreme boards 2’’ thick blades, full on Dirt Machines .

Hey Kirk,
Sounds pretty cool. Thanks for revealing the mystery. Will the longer boards have a “Liddle” logo on it still?
Also, which board is the “Jaws” board? Is it the same as the 6’8" red “Death” (skull and crossbones) board? Or is it a later board (even more extreme)?
Thanks,
not same board at all…the others will have some kind of logo saying liddle designs(most likely). jaws is the real deal dirt machine-far beyond the red board…
hey Jim, the Liddle designs , longer over 8ft boards will have a new logo , it will say Liddle designs, but it wont be Gregs old logo. The boards from him will stay the same. The Jaws board is a 7’1’’ its a bit more extreme than the death board.

How would the Jaws board compare with the black and white checkered nose board? Are they similar? I know it came after the Death board.
All I can say is WhooHooo! Are you guys doing scans from older GL boards or are these fully hand shaped? Whose blanks are ya using?

HAND SHAPED! by Hilbers
I forget witch blank Brian used but I know he had to mow the crap out of it. It a lot of work!
Jim , the checkerd board has slightly more hull up front .
Great, I’ve always admired BJ"s work from the past few years.
Ya know, other than tweaking stringers, it might be nice if there was actually a way to get a custom blown hull blank. One with the right “natural” rocker for hulls. (this would might allow for more stringerless boards without having to mow down a longboard blank).
Just a thought.
Just to add to the comments on the Dirt clip regarding the longboard-derived style. In addition to the great tip-riding, it looks to me like he initiates cut-backs with an almost drop-knee kind of move. The riders in the other clips don’t do this and get less impressive results it seems.
dunno bout that, tsimp… it’s pretty subject to ones taste… i find the cutties by ken mcknight and MPeach pretty spectacular. i noticed they are initiating their turns higher up on the wave than SK is in that Dirt clip. i notice to that McKnight’s board has more of a pulled nose, probably putting the wide point back a bit too.
when i first got my PBer, it felt pretty hard to paddle compared to some of my other boards… since then however i’ve kinda dialed it in, just by paddling from way more forward than i was used to on boards with more pulled noses. i was surfing some pretty weak, miserable little waves this weekend, and felt like i could put into anything… even in those gutless waves tho, the hull’s lack of drag and speed impressed me. wish i’d have gotten into these boards much younger.
Steiny: don’t know how it got by me, but that 8’ Andreini you posted a few pages back looks phenom… i could put that in my living room and just stare at it all day.
thanks- the thing is just so graceful and feels so proper under the arm. i will report on it after a couple surfs.
Kirk,
I’m glad that you, Steve, and Brian are doing this. It will take the stress off of GL having to say no to so many requests for boards over 8’0". Will you have a website to list prices, shapes, etc?
