Hi Greg, I don’t have much to say right now. I rode that board once on a small day and I could barely catch waves. It took me 2 or 3 waves just to figure out how to turn it. Once I got that figured out I had fun except cutting back and top turns were really quick spin kind of turns and I didn’t like that about the old keel fish board I had back in the late ‘70s. I’m guessing that going from 6’ 4" and longer boards to a 5’ 3" was why it was turning so sharply. I really liked how the board would just fly along the wall though.

In time if I get it out again I’ll try to ride it with both sets of fins and give you an better answer. I did the double foils mainly because the old style fish were double foiled and the fins didn’t have much tow. I think I did about 1/8" maybe 3/16" at the most, and the probox inserts are 0 degree cant. I need to go somewhere that doesn’t have many people and the waves need to be about shoulder high to get enough push to take off. If I was 30 years younger, and 30 pounds lighter, this board would be nuts.

One option I have in mind is to add a third fin the way Greg Griffin does his Hovercraft. That will stop it from doing the spin turns. First, I want to see if I can get waves without struggling. I should have made it about 5’ 8", but I was in a funk and I wanted something that I could turn on a dime. Now I realize I don’t want it to turn on a dime, I want it to carve and hold a line longer.

My neighbor’s grandson is about 10, so if it turns out I made it too small, I’ll give it to him.

Here are a couple of shots of the board I’m working on at the moment. 7’6" x 21.5" x 2.5"

My first board that iam making for my girlfriend. Made from EPS 200 with a paulownia stringer.

(I dont know why the pictures are shown upside down here)

Glassing these next.

A little 6’ x 20 1/2 x 2 1/2, step down rails in the tail area (cannot really see them in these pics :))

Only resin work (Rails were PITA, see my other post from 2 weeks ago, but it came out great in the end).

Adding more retrofit rail channels, this time to my Banana Boat.  Had it in for ding repairs, went ahead and added the channels.  One more crossed off my list.
