I mean no disrespect but was this supposed to be posted in a different thread??
could be a simmonsesque platter…?
Been experimenting with bottom curves and alterations lately with super bladed hulls…reeeeeeally really enjoying the experiments and how many variations hulls can take on
just got this in my email from Morgan and Tyler…sooooo so stoked!
Here’s a Transitional Yater I used to own. It was 7’8" although I think the tail had been chopped, it had an ugly repair. The deck had the weave of the cloth still showing (added texture for wax buildup).
Look at this link and vote!
6’11" GL Andy Davis template. nice night with knee high peelers.
slick dolpin right there!
Hey Longone,
That board looks nice from the pics. Could you post pics of the board that shows the template outline? Is this a brand new board?
Yeah the cell phone didnt work bad. Its not new, I got it in 2005 new off the racks from Beach n Wear. It was the first hull I have owned and the one I ride the most. It didnt match the outline of any of the other Liddles I have seen so I sent a picture to Greg a few weeks ago and he told me it was an Andy Davis outline. It is pulled in a bit more in the nose and tail but still has the wide point forward and as per Greg is a bit more maneuverable in steep or critical waves. It is the middle board in this photo:
Sweet board… I really like the look of the Andy Davis outline.
It’s very similar to this board:
I showed this board to KP once. It’s got no notes, numbers, etc written anywhere on it but Kirk figured it to be from about '71 or '72 and thought it was likely a “team” board for one of the shop guys. He said it looked pretty similar to the Davis outline. It has been a super fun board; it surfs more like an Andreini Vaquero than a traditional Liddle hull. Unfortunately, it’s been dinged up and patched so many times that it doesn’t really ride like it used to anymore. Now it mostly just sits in the garage aside from the requsite 1 or 2 sessions on it each year.
A buddy borrowed this board and liked it so much that he had two Clark Foam blanks made up a few years back with the correct rocker profiles and stringer set-up so that he could take a crack at shaping something similar to it. It hasn’t happened yet but the blanks are still sitting in his garage waiting for the right moment.
Longone, how long is your “Davis” board? This one is 7’4".
way cool. mine is 6’11" and for me it works pretty well. One thing I have noticed is that there is a limited sweet spot which is actually further back on the board. Too far forward and it boggs. I dont know if it is the outline, my weight, fin placement or what but even on steeper sections is likes to be ridden further back.
Hey boys and girls here’s a find:
It’s a mini spoon stepdeck. I saw it in person about 6 months ago. Except for the leak stains it was real clean.
When did Greg start using that (BMW/Crashtest) logo?
Mid to late 80’s. Maybe '86-'87. WHen I met the owner of that board, they were unsure when they got the board.
I have #3351 and I know it’s from 1985. This one’s #3679, may be from '87-'88.
i remember that board -saw it in shop.greg made a few for some folks back then. i think there was a married couple that were into them. they looked super bitchin’ and fun for sure…
Hey, I made that little chart and I do own a cell phone. It was on our blog: The Gnarshire
What’s up with that square tail?
“Different strokes for different folks, and so on and so on, and scooby dooby dooby.”

What square tail???
Why the square tail mini spooned Liddle that you posted. That tail looks square to me, or maybe I need to cut back on the Pinot Noir.
