steve did prep some of his boards for the show. not sure about a couple of those in the back-could be copies or variations.
Were those boards for sale/auction? I wonder how much they went for…

The 2 lowest ones are Steves the rest are Alexs boards , I dont think they were for auction, just to show.
it was fun to feel all the rails next to each other- each more bladey than the last. were you there jim? i am sorry we didn’t meet. what a good time!
Hey Steiny,
So what else was there besides the boards in the pics? What was up for auction?
hi jim- like i said, it was a super good time. here’s a link to the art that was auctioned
http://www.displacementfilm.com/benefit/
some very well known artists and some lesser know but quite talented folks too. no boards auctioned off at all- only 2D art. the crowd at the show was really nice. young arty surfing bike riding kids- mission surfriders, skaters, musicians, even more than a few surfing farmers from santa cruz were in attendance. lot of legends both young and old. several families brought their kids. it did make me feel a little old but i guess i am a little old. we had good vietnamese food around the corner at tu lan- after 20 plus years in one of the worst neighborhoods in SF they still crank out some great meals. i used to spend a lot of time around the arts and music scene in the mission and south of market in SF during the early 80s and it was refreshing to see a crowd of positive happy healthy people at alex’s benefit- a nice change from the cigarette smoking, all black wearing nightcrawlers of that earlier time. i hope al generated some scratch!
i really liked this one!
wish i could have made the scene - looks like some great art was up for grabs and an A+ good time was had by all regardless of age creedo and class. hoping the dojo got some mojo for the slomo - can’t wait for this flicker show’s debut.
this thread is slowing down so i thought i’d add a new photo

6’2" fineline

Agreed,
My newest (acquired from mij). Crayola wax job.
Ahh… Good ole #12.
I just picked up a 6’6" Anderson Pescado to mix things up at the beachbreaks. Will post picks soon.
Now #13, I’ve adjusted my count upwards.

What’s the newest on those “Jaws” models?
OH and what’s a Fineline “Akula”.
Akula is Russian for shark, is this one of the “Jaws” boards, or just the template?
The Akula is just a model Brians done kinda a more extreme hull. Not the Jaws board, thats kinda my fault , I gota do a logo for the new boards that Brian and I are workin on Putnam/ Hilburs designs. 2 are shaped.
A pic of mcmalibu @ a Secret Spot:
MC, nice pic!, but the wax jobs gotta go.
nice shot! that board is a 7’6 - loved that thing for a couple of fun hours of sliding and plan on getting some more in on it asap. perf for weak 2-3’ surf…had me screaming over the flats way out front
believe it or not the green wax is loco-stickem
1 bar Zog’s traditional tropic to 1/2 lb Ikea candles (cheaper than canning parafin though I have to remove the wicks once melted), then add 1 Crayola crayon for color.
It can look a bit kooky but it can be changed to match my moods.
MOOD WAX!! that could be funny.
is that the one i sold you?
is that the one i sold you?
Hey Matt,
I’m still riding the 7’9" (and 3/4") you sold me and loving it. Rode it last Saturday. Great board.
McMalibu’s 7’6" is one I sold him that I bought at Mollusk. I have another 7’6" that I happen to like better.
