Wish I’d thought of this !
Available at gofoil.com for $2000.
Awesome. Looks like that monkey is checking the histogram
Hey Surfoils, I bought one of those windsurfers for $20 and took all the rigging off to make it a SUP for my daughter. 8’ x 30" and it has a fin that’s almost 2 feet long. I haven’t tried using it yet because I haven’t made a fin for it.
Some 35mm slides that I shot years ago. Arizona Memorial is from 1978, the volcano and the sunrise over Waikiki are from 1983. Not sure about the koi fish.
A few more.
Couple shots from one of the heaviest days of surf I’ve ever seen on the East Coast. Hatteras Lighthouse was doing its best imitation of Cloudbreak that day. First shot is by me. The second was by Matt Lusk who was shooting from the water.
Crazy storm front moving in. Picture taken by my son from the rooftop of the local surf shop.
Hurricane Sandy was a real Bitch.
The end of my street going off. Photo by a local photographer of a friend.
A picture you just can’t un-see.
Wow, $20 ! That’s a bargain. With the 2 foot fin you could almost make a hydrofoil. Is the big fin a Centreboard with a thru the board box called a Tuttle Box ?
I’m still working on a hydrofoil for beach surfing as I think the current foil style is quite dangerous. The system I made years ago is too complex so it’s time to refine the design.
Go Foil uses a Tuttle box to hold the upright that’s standard for windsurfing but I think I can use Futures boxes or any system with a long base to create a system that you can retrofit on any surfboard.
SRFDCO, the fin is long and straight but at a slight angle. The box is larger than a surfboard fin and there’s 2 screws that goes through the deck to hold it in. It’s made from carbon fiber.
That’s a Tuttle Box. The same as Go Foil uses. For foiling it’s set about 20 " from the tail.
You could convert that board into a foiler as you ride with your back foot over the box.
I’ll jump in. 10 Lakes, Sierra Nevadas.
My wife and I took an Alaskan Cruise in July.
From mid/late 1983 till Sept of 1998 I lived across the street from Ala Moana Park. The view from my living room loked right into Bowls and all the way across to Waikiki. My backyard was Baby Haleiwa, Big Lefts and Courts, and those became my surf spots. One year, we had a monster swell that lasted over a week. Big Lefts and Courts became a single 3x OH left and most spots were closed out. I got a couple of shots of Bowls at about 10’ Hawaiian. You can see how the wave breaks all the way across the boat channel a good 15 to 20 yards outside the old buoys. Those buoys were destroyed by the end of the swell. Back in the day, guys would stand on the buoy and call out the sets. When a big one came through they’d jump off the buoy right onto a wave.
dcasey, thats an amazing shot! How far above them are you? Alaska is amazing. Still a wild place. Did you get those shots of the grizzlies? Wow. Mike
