Sea Shepherd labeled as Pirates by US Federal Court

Not everybody uses F book.

your abbreviation makes it sound like a porn site… but I suppose thats suiting since it’s rapidly going the direction of myspace.

I like the idea though, a boycott on Japanese goods would absolutely be an effective way to put the screws to them on the issue, so long as it can be made abundantly clear that this is why it’s happening…

Perhaps someone with the time and eloquence should submit a petition on the White House website. With the new provisions put into place by Obama, any petition that reaches 100,000 signatures will garnish a response from the administration

I guess I can’t think of any good reason why a modern nation is hunting whales.  Kind of like killing pandas for their pancreas or rhinos for their horns. That type of thing.  You know, so you can get a good erection. I saw the sea sheperd program on TV once before I cancelled my  TV service. Boring with way too many commercials.  I wish they really were pirates.  You know, board the Japanees ship with grappling hooks, pistols, and sabres. OK, so no pistols since you cant own a pistol in Japan or down under.  That’s even better. Hack it out with swords.  More manly.  Fight it out with the Japaneese crew.  That would be good TV.  Mike

I know, but that was the only means by which to spread the petition.  I don’t have that many people on my email list and with Fbook it could spread exponentially.

Mike, what about a Japanese game show crossed with survivor?. " Unrespectful Visitor " or something ?. They could battle it out, and at he end of the week see how many whales survive?

Chuck just rang, he said F@rK the whales!!

If my history lessons taught me right Insanecutback and Paul, America dropped two nukes on Japan? So it would only be fair to spread the radioactive fallout love with you guys??  But seriously, for sure this is a public relations stunt?? Maybe to strengthen the image of America in the eyes of the Japanese public who are not super keen on the expanding military presence in their country??

Beer,

Sounds good. Instead of getting ‘voted off’ or however it works you walk the plank.

Chuck Norris doesn’t FN eat whale meat.  He eats steak.  Rare.

mmmmm…the Japanese have a certain history with swords.  It could get real ugly for the Mericans.

ps I have a Sea Shepard cap that I bought because I liked the look of Rasta’s twin keel fins.  I thought it was just another surf pro clothing start up.  Had no idea the had a TV show. But I totally agree there is no sense in hunting whales…or dolphins.

Many years ago, during my younger and wilder days, I had a bunch of friends who had been a part of Greenpeace. Here in Hawaii we had a few committed souls who went to jail to stop the killing. One guy went to Canada to paint baby Harp Seals red to stop fur hunters, and another guy went to Japan and was the first I know of who put his life on the line to save dolphins. Here's a few stories. I ran into Dexter around 1981 or so after he got back from Japan, and thanked him for what he did. I'm amazed this stuff continues.

Hi sharkcountry,

All my tongue in cheek guffaws aside, I do respect people who put their lives on the line for what they believe and I admit I can’t comment on Sea Shepard with much intelligence because I only watched a few minutes of the program after being bombarded by advertising to see this and that exciting episode.  The little I saw was over hyped sensationalistic BS.  I think filming the whales being killed and butchered with all the gory details would make a bigger impact and educate us all better on just how horrible the whole thing is.  I just like to be given the honest straight information so I can make up my own mind.  Bravo your friends in sincerity.  Greenpeace is full of shit in my view for the reasons stated above.  Used to be a member, too.  I guess I will say I agree with the sentiments of these organizations, just can’t stand their tactics. I don’t like being lied to. The cut away keels look interesting and I would buy some if they did not say Sea Shepard on them. Mike

In the 70’s everything was different. We were all still so naive, believing that we could stop the BS. I don’t know anyone who is still doing that stuff. Mostly because they are all in their 60’s.

What I got from watching that show, was that they are naive well meaning kids led by a captain whi is not all there.

Despite Facebook reporting profits of over $1.1 billion in 2012, the company is expected to pay no federal or state income taxes.

Facebook will actually receive net tax refunds totaling nearly $429 million, because tax deductions on executive stock options can be written off as salary deductions.

Less than a week after the sequester has officially gone into effect, bringing with it painful budget cuts, layoffs, and furloughs for many employees, this is a perfect example of how the deficit and spending cuts are driven by loopholes that allow corporations and wealthy Americans to get all the big breaks.

We humans are anthropocentric by nature, we believe we rule nature and animals are there to serve us. We eat some and try to save some. There is more horror and cruelty against animals in the bovine, chicken and pig industry than in any other meat or meat product industry yet not many people become vegan… Personally I am recently trying to consume no animal products with the exception of fish which I love to hunt/spear. I have recently become aware of how the food industry treats animals. Yet I made this decision mostly for karmic reason…

People worry about extinction and saving the planet and all that bull… Extinction is a part of evolution, species change over time as a way of natural selection and only the fittest survive. We as humans should not be so much concerned about saving the planet, we are mindless predators/consumers of natural resources and instead of trying to “save” the planet, we should be more concerned with saving ourselves. Why?: Natural selection, we have not been around very long and are on the road to extinction ourselves… unless we evolve and learn to adapt and live by nature’s rules. We can’t save the planet, no one can, it has been around for a loooong time and has survived meteor strikes, ice ages, magnetic reversal of poles etc… It, the planet, with time, is capable of healing itself and no smog, plastic or global warming is capable of killing it. those are just minor inconveniences to the planet. We are no threat to it. If we think we can harm the planet, we are giving ourselves too much importance. Yes we might take some species along with us but eventually the planet will just get tired of us and shake us off like a bad case of fleas - inspired by George Carlin RIP…

By the way, to keep on topic, by definition: the Sea Shepard are pirates, thing is they should pilage and plunder some more… Oh and drink some more rum… Caribbean style mon…

Certain theorists say, global warming is actually caused by a shortage of pirates.........

YARGH!

That’s exactly what I mean by survival of the fittest. Yes, we harm ourselves as well as other species far more than by killing whales and dolphins. For example: all the shit thats product of raising cattle in large quantities produces lots of methane gas and pollutes streams and rivers. Thing is we are not adapting to conditions of overpopulation, we are consuming resources without control and have clean transportation technology we don’t use because they are not good for the oil industry. Humans have not been around for much when compared to other species and the way we are going we wont be around for much either… Maybe that is good for the planet as a biosphere, Bob Marley had a point, although somewhat pesimistic, when he said “total destruction, the only solution”- extiction of humans would actually be good for the planet, unless we start doing what we know we should… Oh and I think it’s ok to kill whales, let’s just put some rules into the game: use canoes and harpoons instead of large whale hunting ships… At least it would be a bit more fair…

There are three problems with your thinkng… first off, yes, extinction is part of nature and it’s natural for a species to be wiped out. Unfortunately it is not natural for a species to be wiped out due to severe over-hunting by an invasive species and unfortunately we are the invasive species in this case. The reason we are trying to save these species is because tey are on the brink of exctinction because of us.All we are doing is trying to offset our impact on natural selection by protecting endangered species. Second… the bovine and commercial meat companies are not really a good comparison since they are bred well over their natural numbers for the specific reason of consumption, so while you’re right that they aren’t exactly “nice” to the animals they harvest from livestock, they are in no danger of becoming extinct because we keep their numbers so high…

…the third problem with your thinking is that George Carlin is in fact alive and well
