Show us your resin tints and patterns!

Hi, I’m in the process of shaping a board which I will attempt a resin job. This is the exact colouring I’m after. Any advice on what you used? Thanks Sam.

Pure gold! Best description I’ve heard/read of any board,i want too use it too…

I call this the liquorice allsort, sort of a slipper I guess! This was my first attempt with epoxy pigment. Slanj
Yours Aye Rikki,

Wow Spey, more tint magic!  Lewis is great isn’t it! I’ve only been there once, last year. Loved Dalbeg especially as it cleaned the massive surf right up. We were there whilst that massive storm was in North Atlantic.

Thanks for fish dims!

No name copyrights, help yourselves ;oD

Haaaa Don’t know about the magic bit, feel im improving though! It’s a special place for me right enough, lucky you catching that storm. Bet you had a couple of big days,it wraps round there & can be awesome. Mangersta is going off right now & looks like it will hold for a few days. 10ft 5 star forcast for tomorrow! Scary happy. Thought I would include a pic of my other tint attempt! I’ve only done 7 boards & 3 with pigment. Thanks for the encouragement. Slanj

“Scary happy”…I like it, tint master spey.

Too big for me. Hope you have a good one!

My first homade Surfboard

XPS core with no striger and Epoxy tinted lam

here’s one… the deck is purple… the bottom is, well, everything.

from a few months ago: my first attempt at a basic resin swirl. Its a redwood hws with a bit of abalone inlay.

The fishy stub. My mush buster! 6’4” x 22” black pigment deck & bright budgie yellow bottom done in epoxy. The e.p.s foam used was stripped from an old windsurf board! Slanj

some videos of the process would be awesome. narrated would be even more BA. new shaper very stoked and inspired by all of these insane glass jobs.

hi mate !

1] in the camera ....

if your camera has exposure controls , try over and underexposing it ,  take them outdoors without a flash [overcast days or early or lateish in the day [softer lighter] can be good ].

2] in the computer ....

there are always the photo editing programme[s] on the computer side of things , nowadays ...

  lighten , darken , increase  / decrease contrast / colour / tone , etc

 ...I hope this helps , mate ?

  cheers !

Class restoration, that thing is beautiful!

Very nice! What did you charge for that if you don’t mind my asking… aslo, how did you mantain the logo so well? Did you just tape it off and do pigmented resin panels over the top or did you re-glass the board with a new print of the same logo?

Hey Shushka420,

This board was stripped and reglassed. I was able to save the original logo.  I charge 800-1200 depending on how involved they become.  After doing so many over the years I have become pretty fast at the restorations.  Thanks,

Austin

new light blue tint, I hate it when this thread falls off the first page. I Need More Resin…

I have been fiending to smell resin. I made a deal with a friend of the shop that if brought me a blank I’d shape it and glass it without fee, as long as I could do whatever I wanted. Hell I’m new at this, and need all the experience I can get. He brought me an old 8’ something blank, half shaped and bit crusty. This is what I came up with for him. It’s 5’6" x 20.5" x 2 5/8ths. I used a fish spin template nose for both the nose and tail. reduced tail size and added the wings back into the template. Now I wanna keep it.
