this one, I need to know!!!

OH MY WOW!!!

THIS IS GOING TO KNOCK SOME PEOPLE ON THEIR ASSES AT THE TRADE SHOW IN FEBRUARY!!!

DARTH…KEEP IT UP MORE BOARD COMING YOUR WAY.

THIS IS THE BAD COP…OVER…AND OUT.

NOTHING RHYMES WITH IT!!! YUMMY ORANGE

there is a big difference between swirling a bunch of color together and a clean lam.Hand taped lap line ,no drainidge ,no pin air.clean cut line. I would like to see most of these boards up close.Camera cant show it all.Tints show it all, and most drain their opaques’

PS Wyatt at global is one of the best younger laminators I have seen !!!

this thread has had no negative stuff yet hope your not trying to spoil it

be happy

Ken,

Sorry for getting back to you so late, but its been snowing like hell here in Maryland and I’ve been snowboarding my ass off… Any way… I just did a standard swirl on this board. Normally I try to cover the whole board up with resin and let it soak in which helps set the color better and keeps the swirl crisp(learned from austin and troy in the achives). On this board I poured small lines of swirled colors and slowly pulled across the areas of cloth left to wet out. Heres a few pics of the process.

I don’t think riomar was trying to be negative, just pointing out that dry spots and air pockets aren’t part of a good lam, no matter

how pretty or intricate the colors are. The first priority should be to get a good lam, then get the color.

He probably won’t tell you this, but he was glassing for Brewer and Lightning Bolt in Hawaii in the early 70’s, all resin color, bolt lap cuts, etc.

He knows what he’s talking about, but I’ll admit he could be more diplomatic. He could use a trip to charm school.

Now back to the feel-good vibe, this is an all-time thread…

Mike

haha be our guest, vader is one of the best up and coming glassers around, he is a perfectionist and nothing goes unnoticed, but yea thanks for trying to make this a critique. (sarcasim) Just be stoked on what everybody is doing on here.

The airporter shuttle driver that I’ve ridden with a few times, here in SB, told me that he was a glasser for Brewer on the North Shore in the early seventies.

Nice guy. He said he never crossed into the ‘Bolt Camp’, (rivalry, and all). It sounded like a really great time- and place- to be: making good money, having fun, surfing a lot.

That was probably the apex of the surfer/board builder lifestyle! Living the life, for sure.

Back to the regulary scheduled topic…

Did a few bolts for Eb in Encinitas in the 90s’.Learned from Mike Hoady.Watching Bobby Allen,Bob Haukenson(sp) and spying on Stuber while Sid shaped my boards. Also with Byzak having breakdowns around me .Ist glass shop shared with Wedall Payne (Dustys’ dad)

sorry should proof better Wendall

gotta say i agree just got one of my boards glassed by vader, one word PERFECTION!!

A couple just finished:

Solid opaque orange bottom. Tint blue deck. Swirl insert. Resin pinlines.

Troy

A pigmented gloss resin pattern. NO airbrush. A real Bitc#@. Pattern is top and bottom.

Troy

I’m out of “wow”. Everyone stop it. Just let me rest. Incredible thread.

Austin, wow. Last one I have left.

This…

Is one of the coolest things I have ever seen. Soon you’ll have some Highlanders asking you to duplicate their tartans on their boards!!

JSS

…very nice looking board

but I think that is way heavier…

Man all these killer glass jobs

makes me want to do all my boards with color

Whoever started this thread is a fricken genius…(pun)

keep showing your stuff boys and girls (Rachel you got game!)
