Resin color forever! ! !

i didnt want to say anything but if i started posting pics of resin work on a epoxy airbrush thread how would that go over?

just a thought you dont have to agree with.

darkside for life!

join or die!

Sorry, for my part, I took the “patterns” of the thread title to be any color job on a board.

I wonder if you arn't refering to Ray's work over

at Clearwater? He is one of the unsung heros

of the glassing crew. Look at a few of the

Infinity SUP’s & some of the Gato’s. (re: Creme)

goood work yeah…

wow wow wow i was under the impression that robby keygal was the glasser for all those creams and gato heros…?

hats off to Ray for some very cool stuff!

also this is a free society here on sways so do as you please.

i just thought it was funny cause you know dam well if i started posting poly glass jobs on a spackle thread people would tell me to post them on a different thread.

dont forget you can answer peoples ?'s in pm form so a thread can stay on topic cause those were good tips…but how do you search for that when you search for it under different words, yah know?

also if you are going to the japan trade show some of my work will be there and also at the aussie fish fry if you want to give them a good looking over and make sure im not pulling any fast ones.

Resin color for life…i like that one theres some thing to be said about 12_15min. working time! you have to be on your game!

see yah on the flipside

i stole these off the enforcers myspace…lol

You can click on the advanced search button that’s in the upper left hand side of the General Discussion list page and search the text in the bodies of posts.

BTW- What does John Goodman have to do with surfboards? [;)]

everything…,

i take glassing as serious as he takes bowling.

…hello Atomized,

no, they re water based

the pinstripping on the deck (that not showed well in those tiny pict) is under the gloss

the checkered is with automotive tints

I use poly auto tints for pinlines and

water based silckreening tints on the foam and on the H coat

posca pens with black, sky blue

Some recent pics.

Austin,

Gorgeous resin work. How did you terminate the decklap of the orange and half blanket? Cutlap?

well this board that is for sale is not hand painted in the paint sense of the word…it belongs here if you know what i mean.

tudor fish by obiwon.

Groovy!

Great depth and luster. I can’t seem to take my eyes off it.

Thanks for posting

Can anyone point me to some cut lap and masking tips?

Here are my assumptions. You have to mask the top of the board. I’d measure and tape a perimeter. I’m sure I’m going to hear that I should use 3M 233 tape. After building up a boarder with tape then fill the rest of the top in with more tape or other masking material.

So now you flip the board, layout glass, splash your swirl, and lap over the masking. When the resin starts to gel it’s time to grab your box of razor blades. Cut right at the masking tape line, right? If your resin swirl is really dark you might not be able to see the tape. In that case you have to measure the same as when you put the tape down, right? What if you leave a little tape under the glass?

Does the resin bleed more easily between the foam and table than when your pin lining over relatively smooth glass? If so what do you do to prevent bleeding, use clear water based acrylic?

How do you keep the cut lap clean, I mean how do you keep your wet fingers and what ever from getting on the virgin foam? When your ready to flip the board back to top side down how to you keep resin stuck the top of the stand from getting on the top deck.

Thanks!

bigshow

what Hui showed you was what you want to do (I cover the whole deck with thick paper)

but to answer your questions (these are not considered pro answers)

clean foam and good tape are a must

good chances you will see the tape under the color

if theres alittle tape under the glass how would you no ? if you can see it you can trim correctly

the resin may bleed a tad thats why God made pin lines (oh you know that) LOL!

how to keep it clean?.. be carefull !!!

Thanks guys. I plan to shape #2 this weekend and resin swirl the bottom. I’m going to keep the colors lighter this time so the EL light will show through the rails.

The boards on this thread are just amazing.

hey there Bigshow…

you’re kinda new around here so you might not have been around to

check out the epic thread of all epic threads (in my opinion).

though Oldy will be the first to tell you that he’s no pro, he does some

really impressive non-pro work… it’s also a great how-to

check it out journey of a quad

Wow! wonderful!

I like it very much.
