No floral prints here in New Jersey, working on the JERSEY GHETTO PIG
all done
heres a few sides
ice blues to crazy swirlz all in a days work.
I think I over complicated things with this one, but the new owner absolutely loves it. Next time I’ll mix in some clear and brighter colors too, this one came out too dark for my tastes. I only went with a cloth inlay (4 oz) because I didn’t want to paint and have the stringer show through, and I still don’t feel confident after a couple practice foam tints. Since I know cloth I played it safe. I plan on throwing a cheater coat down on the deck after glassing and before a hotcoat, just to make sure everything evens out. Wouldn’t try it on the bottom just because not getting it smooth would be worse there.
too dark for me also
butttttttt
F N nice Rachel
we should hook up and make sweet boards together
LOL!!!
Here’s my first feeble attempt at a Jedi-style swirl using Aeromarine epoxy. Still need to hotcoat and then gloss. Messed up badly, but I learned a lot about what not to do ;>)
nice, i see someone’s been poking their nose in the right hole!
etmo
You got some very crisp color separation goin on there
how many colors is there?
did you do an air blast on the last pic?
Great stuff Rachel !!!
Etmo came over to my place a few times last year. Checked out all my boards , asked lots of questions ,hung out while the boys shaped some foam…Told me he had no art in him…Looks like the student is now the teacher…Did you really pull that off with EPOXY ?
Looks like I need to go over to Etmo’s place and ask questions and check out boards!

Etmo, what kensurf said.
Epoxy color separation? Who knew? I want to know. How? I’m sitll stuck in a muddy world.
Very very nice. Details? Many thanks.
Thanks, guys. Just stumbling around trying to mimic the masterful stuff that Obiwon and Vader seem to do so effortlessly, and adapt their brilliant techniques to epoxy. It’s much easier to do this stuff in poly or resin-x (although I still suck in those media, too; lol)
NJ Surfer and Rachel posted some great tips in a very recent thread which really helped me with this board, so thanks to them as well as the Jedi masters :>) Of course, stingray taught me most of what I know, so I wouldn’t be doing much without his help. I’m just doing (a poor job of) what they all said to do.
I mixed 5 colors, and the last sunbursty-effect I did thanks to Vader and NJ Surfer. Vader posted about flow control (and tons of other tips throughout his posts), and I didn’t really get it, but then NJ Surfer mentioned tilting the board just a tiny bit, so I did some test panels and it started to sink into my thick skull. Most of the time I still screw up, but always learning.
Now I have to try and make the epoxy gloss look as good as maxmercy’s – that ain’t gonna happen ;>)
Is this the ETMO I know from the surfing san diego forum?
Still hoping to be able to match your skills one day.

Shapers have there own Art, but its often hidden, some freaks go unnoticed and some hackers with business skills kill it.
Some of you guys truly are amazing. Dont know why but i didn’t give this site much attention, however I spent the last 2 nights backtracking all pages. I WAS BLOWN AWAY TO SAY THE LEAST. You can tell you guys have so much pride also.

Genius work from Vader – more pix!
Hey ETMo,
Is that longboard the blank you got from the surfing heritage show? It looks good. What are the dems and 411 on it? R
