Show us your resin tints and patterns!

hey Kokua

I know what I did wrong,,,, 2 things,,,, Im kind of ashamed that I actualy thought I could cheat the resin gods,,,,,

this is what I did wrong...

#1 I added a small amount of mekp to the first pour (I had split my tinted resin to save some for the rails)

#2 I left the garage door open while laming and got reflected light on the board which set off the UV resin prematurely

so there you have it ,,,, I F,d up ,,, its all my fault,,,,, Im going to therapy now,,,,,,,

Howzit kensurf, That would make a difference. I have never done a tint job with UV resin.Aloha,Kokua

hey Kokua

its too bad your not doing resin work anymore, (I guess for the best) you would dig using UV for tints, plenty of time to work the resin

I just did a pink opaque layup and this time I closed the door and gave it 1/2 mekp ,, got er wraped and walked her out in the sun the bottom was kicked in about 5 minutes, fliper her for about 1 minute ,, took er inside and cut the lap,, back to the sun for a final bake and done

I may be wrong but ,,, I think the UV helps the MEKP to start going off in solid colors, once it gets in the sun

thanks Girvin !

I look forward to seeing your fins , especially if they are swirled !!

   cheers

Here’s my new second hand Mini sim-fish. It wa made for local logger Sasha Leitmanis, but I pinched it and now its mine! mwahaha hahah hahah!

Tint and Posca: second try!

I glassed this fish with some white and grey tint, using UV resin. Several days later the grey wasn’t dry! The only way to save the board was to cut the layer and remove it! Which i did and reglass with clear resin. The board was ok but uggly! Well, may be i can make it looks better with my lethal weapon: black Posca. Since then i always add some catalyst in my UV resin tint!

…Hi Kokua,

well, I really don t like to do the pinlines on the foam, not so “bright” as on the hot coat.

I don t do sanded finished boards

I use speed finish or gloss or both.

I can’t decide whether the art makes the resin colors pop or vice versa, but either way I like the results.

Thanks Gdaddy! One thing is sure: without the Posca the resin didn’t pop at all!

Nice, Guilheim.

I looked on your website and saw several other tint jobs and boards I liked.  You should post a few more of them here.
