Skil 100 Dust Chute

OK guys.  I had three Skils.  Sold two.  I only had two dust chutes.  I couldn’t bring myself to selling a Sways Bro a Skil without a dust chute.  So the 5 amp got the appropriate chute that came with it originally.  The 7 amp didn’t have one originally so I included one off of my dailly driver.  One of the tall black cutes…  Appropriate for a 7 amp.  So that leaves me with my daily driver(7 amp) and no dust chute.  I’m looking for one of the tall ones used on a 7.5.  If you have one and would be willing to part with it for a reasonable price let me know.  Here or PM.  Also, does anyone know whether or not the dust chute and the vacum attachment for an Accurate Planer will also fit a Skil??   Lowel

I’m 99% sure that you will have no problem fitting them to the Skil.

Thanks Bill. I had heard that they might.  I’m gonna contact Accurate and find out for sure.

Will you upload some images .

Yeah, yeah not as fancy as the accurate, but its $150 cheaper. Mine go for $15 plus $5 for shipping.

Rosarito bean can, tin snips or scissors, pliers, and a fair bit of ingenuity and I know you can do better…

So how do you get one of those $15.00 vac attachments?

We did mine out of aluminum also…

This I’ve got to see. Pictures please…

I think there are coat hangers and duct tape involved too.

scrap copper flashing

is better than a

you can use the rosarita can as a template.

and if you wanna get way into more than

you can even resort to soddering

the assemblage assembly.

.010 aluminum

I made mine out of sheet aluminum using tin snips, a hammer, and 3" hand seamer. Made an oaktag template for perfect fit. A square foot of 1/32 thick sheet from HD for about 7 bucks. I made three of them, each one better than the next.

oh man, that is clever, Pete.  given enough cardboard trials (and bandaides while I cut the aluminum or tin) I think I could manage that for outdoor use.  but I need to connect to a vertical vac hose.  thanks for putting that up for us.

I will confirm it 100%. The Accurate Vac Exhaust does fit the Skil 100.

I just got my Vac Exhaust today. It slid right onto my Skil 100 with out binding any where. You will think it’s too loose until you tighten down the set screw (finger tight) , then it becomes rock solid.

If you have 2 Skil 100’s that you use, one with a short bed and one with a long bed; you will have no problems swaping the vac exhaust between the two planers.

They do fit. You might have to do a little light fileing.

"but I need to connect to a vertical vac hose. "

Start with one of these for the vac hose attachment (http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/ductflanges.php?clickkey=36320), then template the dust chute around it similar to zensurfguy’s pic above

It’s aircraft quality, how can you go wrong

Just out of courisusity what would a  ball park price on a  Skil 100 7.5 in very good condition.?

I have been seeing sime crazy prices on eBay.   I have one and have been toying with the idea of selling it.

Artz,

I’ve watched them sell pretty regulary for on average for $400.00. E-Bay.

Seen some in lesser quality for $200-$300.00.

Nobody pays those crazy prices.

I’ve been wanting another 7.5.

What you want?

Trade?

I’ll glue you up something killer.

Maybe trade for airbrush work?

Let me know.

Pete,

You should post a pattern of this one.  Nicely done.
