YOU gave yourself away - when I asked you if you had used accelerating curves you said that you only used the circle and the ellipse. The ELLIPSE is a curve based on acceleration of varying degrees. Most every designer and or artist that has worked with ellipses knows this - and they aren’t what YOU think they are.
I asked you to come back and finish what you started. Put a speedometer on your board and tell us how fast you are REALLY going - gliderboy.

Regarding the accelerating curve question, I do not use accelerating curves for tail rockers, as I stated previously. I am aware that an ellipse is an accelerating curve, I use them for other parts of the template. If you read my post again I think that you will find that this is clear, butI apologise if you did not understand what I meant.
Regarding my ‘riding through the contest’ post, it was meant as a bit of humour, and if you had been there you would have understood this. No one had a problem with my surfing on the day, I knew all the contestants, and we I didn’t get in anyone’s way. I admit to being a poser at times, but so what?
I am not quite sure what your emotional problem is, so I am sorry if I am unable to help.

The only relief which I can offer you is to say that we are going to be living and travelling on the road sometime in the next 6 to 8 weeks, as the owner of the property we live on is going ‘belly up’ and selling out. Being on the road will mean that we will have internet connection via pre pay mobile phone and thus will not be as active on the net. We will also be travelling to East coast locations where there is no cell phone coverage. Living on the road with 9 children is hard work but at least we will get better waves, and will not have to pay rent.
I hope that this offers you some hope of relief from your terrible affliction

In no way was I disparaging you fathering skills…In no way was my intent to nose in on your family affairs…I have no idea what your family is like, but for me and mine, we always enjoy that “special time” together, know what I mean…???..
But, the time you spend on this website is “significant”, at least compared to most of the rest of us…I’m glad you have the quality of life that allows you the freedom to participate in the free exchange of ideas…
I’ve seen Swaylocks grow from a handful of players to what it is today…There has always been a give and take of ideas…Occasionally someone drops in and thinks Swaylock’s is his open door to the surfing world…Maybe you’'re not like this…

This may be before your time here, but we faced an issue with “The Fat Penguin”…A one note wonder who’d (Roy, have your children step far away from the monitor) piss off a lot of people…(Ok, they can now resume reading with you)…One of the reasons we have moderators is to prevent that type of thing from happening again…

Yeah I too think Roy is like the FP man. When I read his posts, claming his boards and fins like the best, always comes to my mind the FP posts. Roy, you build very nice boards, I must admit, but when you start to claim yourself as the big wooden boards expert, you look really bad.
Will someone, anyone out there put a speedo on their board and give us the results, not personal affronts. This constant bickering is starting to put a downer on my Swaylocks experience.

Some interesting stuff. I think the real issue is air speed, water speed ignores the speed of the wave and as anyone who has surfed a variety of different coasts knows, that is a really big factor. To accurately measure speed with a video camera you would need to be directly above the surfer. In theory it would be a fairly straight forward exercise but finding a stationary vantage point might be tricky. Hand out the skyhooks?
Anything shot from the beach is inherently unreliable as it ignores the shoreward component of the motion

Yes, and if the shoreward component is ignored then the speed reading will be lower than the actual speed, not higher. So therefore my video analysis is a conservative estimate of the actual speed achieved. Roy

Paul- if you think that Roy is annoying, just ignore him. That goes for all of you. I for one respect him for his whole trip that he’s on. He doesn’t ride a Surftech, isn’t a label slave to CI, Rusty, JC, (insert label here), he doesn’t fit in with the little Swaylocks cliques, (Dale’s mats, Hyclone’s fins, Burt’s Balsa’s, Paul Jensons hollows… Greg’s resins.) He doesn’t hang out with the “cool” guys at the ASR trade shows, and doesn’t ride anything close to the definition of a “conventional” surfboard… hell he doesn’t even use conventional fins! He lives in BFN and does his own thing, and obviously enjoys the hell out of himself. It looks to me that he may be one of the only people on this whole planet unaffected by the whole horrible monster that the “surf industry” has become. I find that his posts, while frequent and yes, quite often very arrogant, are a relief from the normal “Oh gee how should I mix up my epoxy correctly?” or “how’s my lis fish look?” posts. I often find that Roy annoys the St out of me… but I still read his posts, just like I read, perhaps 75% of all the posts on this forum, everyday. But even though Roy’s posts often annoy the living St out of me, it doesn’t make me want to whine like a baby and/or be an a**hole. After all this is an OPEN SURFBOARD FORUM and everyone can say what they like, it is up to the readers to decide what is bllsht and what isn’t. Thats what so great about an OPEN FORUM.
