This sounds great…I will offer up a stainless steel ring of choice for the winner. (roughly $100 value) I may enter as well depending…kinda had a research board in mind with fins all over the place.
As much as flooding this one sounds cool, I suggest we do individual threads so that this one thread doesn’t get too picture heavy and not load for some folks…
Reading a few posts I think the vision I had for this build challenge went completely over some people’s heads. The point of this was not to be competition. My idea was a fun way to jumpstart this place a little bit and get some builds and perhaps some innovation going. Like I said in the original post my idea for this came from a guitar website I visit. You can go there and view the various threads and read the responses and see the amazing builds that came out of it. Fun and without ego. At that forum the garbage that goes on here would not be tollerated I can assure you so perhaps it would never fly here.
Here is a link to a fine build that came out of that guitar build chalenge. Read the thread and read the responses. You will find none of the BS that goes on here…imagine if we had a dozen new threads like Burt Berger’s epic vacume bag composite builds. This place used to have that kind of innovation.
So far it seems its only my thread and one other one. So far no one has been all that responsive to either threads besides a select few. I figured it would be an opportunity to build a board and do things/ try techniques i have yet to do. With results ranging from epic to epic fail.
From the response to the original post i figured we would have upwards of 10/15 builds going at once.
Im in but cant start till i finish 2 boards for a couple of mates.
I love reading build threads. Wish Yorky’s shed thread was still going, i loved that.
I’m in, but I’m going to cheat a little. I already started my board a while ago, but it is not finished yet. My boards generally take more than one season to complete.
I’m not going to post a build thread because I didn’t take many pictures… but here’s a keel fish just about ready for gloss coat, I think the colors remind me of the “Hulk” comic book guy… so its says “Hulk SMASH!” on the deck, ha ha.
