started 9'6 noserider green dow foam

So how does it ride A?

I found 9 sheets of blue Dow on Trademe for $90. Forman's don't have any in the country and price it at $40 a sheet so I'm stocked with that. Will be using it for rails on compsands instead of balsa.

hey karl, i been meaning to post  a ride report

the board paddles well, i like the rolled vee in the bottom. i have ridden it in wasit-shoulder waves  really loved it. i have a lot  to learn about nose riding but i have found it holds pretty well when you move out on the nose seems stable, tail does not feel like its to losse.

hey but i can't get anything better than five toes over the end on a good day.

i took it out  twice in shoulder- head and it was a real battle to get the board out ( beach breaks) as it was so corky!! plus the combination rounded rails, single fin and low nose made steep take offs exciting!

one of the days was a primo sunrise surf out at Waihi got some super long rides in out at the surfclub end,

it go a few small things i will do different on next one. but happy as just need to get better at noseriding now!

thats a good deal on that foam i bought 2 damaged 50mm sheets a few weeks ago for $75 so you got a real bargain! trademe has some good deals if you are in right place at right time. hey good luck with that foam be keen to see the boards put some pics up when you done

cheers for interest

Welcome to the world of riding your own shapes. What makes us immediately start thinking how we would change it? I wish I could just enjoy the board for what it is and simply ride it. But NOOOO! Got to start tweaking them! And it starts all over again. Aint it beautiful?

ps. Your board turned out really nice.

Great board! You’ll love XPS. When you have a ding there is no worry, just continue your session and fix it afterwards. And when you’re on a trip and the ding is not structural you can fix it when you’re back home!

If you notice a delam, no worries just poke a hole through the glass and fix it later it wont grow with the hole in!

XPS is great, just don’t start a production line with it. Customers won’t poke holes in their boards and they will have serious delams. XPS is perfect if you know how to treat it.

I have two XPS boards and I love em because they are so easy to fix (temporary), the only thing you need is something pointy.

BTW:

styrodur is the BASF brandname for XPS (green)

styrofoam is the DOW brandname for XPS (blue)

So your foam is made by BASF and not by DOW

Howzit ts, I would call it the mix and match board since it is a one of a kind for sure ith all the different components making the blank. I commend you on your efort to look outside the box instead of just buying a blank and shaping it. Truely a treasure and hold on to it forever.Aloha,Kokua

Sounds like you're enjoying the board. it's addictive!

nice thread guys
