sunova

I finally recieved my sunova last week.It is a 5 11 18 3/8 2 1/8 short board with corcell deck, balsa bottom and slight concave for the bottom.I did get a chance to ride it but the waves were not that great.I ha ve been riding my quad for a couple months so getting on back on a thruster felt strange. My first 2 waves were not what I was hoping for but I had to remind myself that I need to adjust. With that being said readjusted my approach and the board went really good. The board was getting ahead of me especially when I was doing a hard bottom turn. The board would spring out of the turn faster than I was anticipating.Somtimes this would really help me get to the top of the wave quickly and I was able to snap it under the lip pretty hard other times I would set up by doing a bottom turn and just lose it.Basically I was having great moments and not so great moments.I have been riding firewire and coil boards for the last 6 months so I do know how to surf this kind of board construction.I think that I need to play with fins to get it magic. The quality of the board is amazing. There are supposed to be some waves this weekend here in florida so I will give it another go.

Howzit Karl…just wait for some good waves…too early to tell.

Your quiver is AWESOME!

…hell o

I have soem questions:

-what happen with a reentry? I mean, with the flex

Its “an all in one” move? or the flex springs then reentry?

and all that in backhand? is the same?

back foot surfer or not?

if you re a b foot surfer, do you crank up with the back foot?

and so whats the flex felling and response in that situation?

I m really interested in what happen in top of the face of a wave with that flex

–which is the transportation cost from Australia to Usa?

thanks

How about some pics?

…you too, deanbo !

surfercross , i surf regularly with a 50 year old guy who rides a sunova mal .

he loves it

he has had it for YEARS , it now is a more ‘yellowy’ colour than when they are ‘new’ , but it still looks pristine !

cheers

ben

…one of these days i’ll ask to do a board swap with him , as the only other sunova i rode was josh’s ? 6’4 and lavz’s ? 5’11" ? i video’d the guy who gets them in here in w.a. last week , he was riding the 9’2 “kruiser” model , and ripping …[bert, if you’re reading this ? yes , it was jason…]

Hey surfercross,

waves this weekend here in florida

We’re supposed to get surf this weekend?? I’m holdin’ you to that one, Karl.

You should post a quiver pic. But you’re photo-posting impaired like me, right? Get craftee to do it, he’s smarter than us.

How much did you pay for that? I received a pricelist for Europe incl. shipping and it would be an understatement to say that it was on the expensive side. Especially since there will be taxes on top of it.

right so, about 1200 * 1.195 [Tax] * 1.5656 = 2245 USD for a Longboard…

Or 9001.1951.5656usd = 1683 USD for the all corecell surfboard…

What does that buy you guys in the states?

only option now is have someone bring it over here… or pick it up…

so shit. For comparison, a Firewire in my local shop is 1095 USD…

$2245 = a used car

Yeah, it’s way out of my budget (and taxes are a bit higher here too), so I’ll stick to building my own until I win in the lottery or something. I guess they are catering to the high end market, same market as chambered balsa boards. Nothing wrong with that as such, but there are not that many people that can afford a $2500 surfboard…

I will post some pics as soon as I figure out how to do it.It is pathetic how bad my computer skills are. Some windchop is on tap for memorial weekend Mike I hope.It cost me 1000.00 american dollars. Most of my friends think I am crazy for spending that much but my other hobby is motocross and it is real easy to spend way more to buy goodies for my bike than it is on one surfboard.I did have one guy recognize that I had a sunova and he was tripping out.He asked me all kinds of questions about it.I just said that how it rides is what is the most important!I will post pics later

Most of my friends think I am crazy for spending that much

Shall we lump your wife as a friend too? HA!

At US$1000 it would be just a 100 more than a surftech here, including taxes. Really competitive…

rather have one of berts than a bloody surftech

Of course. My point was that at the price they pay in the US the Sunovas would be competitive price wise with a surftech cost here and pretty much exactly what a firewire cost. Right now it would be less expensive to order it to my drop ship mail address in the US and have it shipped here…
