Well , I guess that , sometimes , working in a surfboard shop , and doing surf schools …occassionally it has its advantages for him , shall we say …
THIS one …
" 6’1 x 19" Channel Islands -Tom Curren Surf Designs Modeel. Heavily veed through the tail with those unusually placed channels. Super light . Bought in Bali " [there ya go , Josh …the exception to the above comment !] …"Unfortunately the whole deck has delaminated . How’s the funky spray ! "
"It’s in good nick for … over twenty years old. ‘’
…so are you , mate … considering !!
WHO was “RF” ??
I think there are more ‘vic’ boards to come … stay tuned !
but first …
here’s another one that “Platty” and “A.D.68” might enjoy …
“a Scott Dillon stringerless s-deck …this one is 6’1 x 20 1/4” . Has the Greenough Hull Bottom - roll under nose , to flat in tail. High nose rails- down rails in tail. Brown pigment bottom with black pigment splotches. No pinline - just cut rail."
[Simon showed Scott Dillon this one , last time he was up at Scott’s museum , in Coffs Harbour [where our folks live]
cause glassers and shapers to leave their jobs / go insane
don’t work well in anything other than smooth faced waves
look spacy
have been made , and are STILL being ridden , for 30+ years [ just ask ‘Pandanus’ !]
cost extra [LOTS more labour involved!]
are unique
go very fast…in the right wave[strike]
work better with SIMPLE outlines…Simon says his triple flyer , full board length jet bottom doesn’t work well at all , because of too reduced tail area, and …
LOTS of turbulence !
need to be tried [and , obviously, adjusted to !] , before judgement is passed (just like ALL surfboard designs !]
Hey Chip, it was Russell Francis. I think he still has Full Circle in Phillip Island. Antsville might know if he’s still alive, I haven’t seen or worked with him for years.
…as the song said , "…you ain’t seen NOTHING yet ! " (More to come , stay tuned…)
Also in Victoria, there’s a guy in Jan Juc [near Bells Beach] who has HUNDREDS of boards … I think he occassionally supplies the Torquay Surf Museum , too ? [I think I posted a partial shot of THAT guy’s quiver here or at surfermag once … but I can’t remember his name now , though , unfortunately.]
Anyway…about this one , Simon wrote ,
“6’4 x 19 1/2 single fin , shaped by Greg Hogan. Made for Eli”. [Simon’s son]…“I’m riding it now. Goes GREAT - just had f.c.s. outriggers put in. Reminds me of a Nat Young pintail I useta own. Coming to Indo this year.”
