Oh brother!!
he’s no “dude” [means jerk or poser here] ,
he’s my brother …
That dude looks sort of like you.
Zzzaapppp!
“6’6 x 19 1/2” Al Merrick Channel Islands “Black Beauty” model. Belongs to Eli- bought in Bali last year . Goes great but guess what ? Delaminating in deck !"
Cool!
" 6’3 x 19 1/4" Glyndon Ringrose shaped Island. Another Eli cast off. This board goes unreal !! Super deep single concave, Way too high performance for me. This board will come to Indo this year ."
Another nice one.
here’s a shot of a board that (?a mate of Ted Grambeau’s?) had during Simon’s trip to hawaii in december last year…
Nice singlefin. How did it ride?
Sorry, I’m not sure how that single fin rode , Doug . I like the outline , though. It looks fun to me !
" 7’2 x 19" Eric Arakawa. Used to belong to a mate who breaks boards a lot. Swapped it for repairs. Beautiful board. Coming to Indo with me this year "
Sweet looking board chipper!
" 6 '4 1/2" x 20 1/8" ‘Kewarra’ jet bottom. Got 2 of these - the other is the triple flyer a/la M.P. “fangtail”. I forgot to photograph that."
these jet bottom things (especially the last one) look like the most intense glassing experience, i have enough trouble with swallow tails.
they look as though they just create drag, anyone ridden one, glassed one, made one? i’m very curious about peoples experiences with these oddities. cheers chips for an awesome thread. i’d love a close-up of a fangtail, jet bottom as well?
cheers,
tom
“…anyone ride them ?”
yep, SIMON… he has ridden all three of his ! And a couple of his mates also have some
“The simpler outline” , as I mentioned previously , “works the best of the three” , he said.
Erle Pedersen , now living near ‘Pandanus’ , apparently STILL makes them , 35 years later , as there are people around who ride them still. I’m pretty sure Mick Fanning has one in his garage too [it may be Joel Parkinson’s] in one of those dvds …either “3 degrees”, or “fanning the fire” , from memory…
I wish someone [Andrew Kidman , perhaps??] would film a whole heap of people riding them at lennox , the superbank , burleigh …
I posted a shot very recently of the “Moonrocket jet bottom” [that may be what I called the thread , even ? … or , maybe, do a search under “jet bottom” ]
cheers mate !
ben
Dang … wow and he keeps pulling those out from under his bed. Does he work for the circus?
tha Kewarra’ jet bottom is a work of art.
"Does he work for the circus?‘’
well…depending on your viewpoint . He and Eli DID help with the judging at Bells for a few years !
p.s. - Simon has mals , too …
" 8’2 x 22 1/2" Greg Hogan shape , Island surfboards. An 8’2" 9’er. Goes great , rounded chines in nose with noseriding concave and a big double concave in the tail "
Speaking of mals. Have you recoverred your ability to ride a chip yet?
…I will need to soon , Doug [thanks for asking ! ], because the plan , at the moment , is to launch my tiny [by comparison!] “bushfire fish” up at lanno , with hicksy and lavz , on tuesday next week . Hopefully there will be something there to ride it ON !!
ben
… but, having said that , I DID ride a mate’s 6’4" thruster three days ago [I did a board swap , as I wanted to see him ride the mal, as he was asking questions about it as I was surfing with him].
“heres a shot of a mate of ted g had in hawaii”
GREEEEEEEAT SINGLE FIN!!!
