am I the only one or are some of you experiancing this,,,,,
every time I click a topic I get an google web browser along with it and sometimes I have to try 2 or 3 times to get the sway's website to open, it wants to do a google search first,,,,
That's really odd. See if anyone else chimes in but I still think it sounds like an adware/spyware kind of thing.
Try going to your browser settings and disable third-party browser extensions (In IE that's: tools - internet options - advanced - uncheck the box) and see if that helps. If it does then its definetly an adware thing. Also if you have google toolbar installed try disabling that. That's all I can think of.
Aw crap! Sounds like the beginning symptoms of an ad/spyware virus. Make sure you have some realtime antivirus scan running and you should be okay. I cured mine with the free Microsoft Security Essentials. Worked like a charm and scans daily for updates. Fix it right away though or it gets very bad by trying to get rid of it with a system restore, using task manager to stop the script, deleting the software etc.
I don't mean to sound snarky, but that's why I have a Mac and a Linux box. No viruses, no spyware, no problem. Sure... there are "threats" to those systems too, but it's nothing like on a Widows system. I used to have a Windows based PC. I finally got fed up with having to reformat my harddrive, and reinstall Windows every year. My old PC laptop now runs Ubuntu. We also have a Mac Mini which has worked out great.
and clear your web browser cache as a secondary step.
Third step: buy an ‘Internet Security’ product, dont buy a typical ‘Anti-Virus’ product. Anti-Virus just does a scheduled or daily scan after you already
have the problem through webbrowsing and your bank details may have already been absconded with. ‘Internet Security’ scans all incoming and outgoing traffic.
Does a great job of preventing this from happening in the first place. I have Kaspersky Internet Security 2010–highly recommended.
Fourth Step : Use Firefox with an addon of ‘NoScript’
Fifth or maybe 1st : dont have your computer directly connected to a cable modem, you need a router between your computer and a cable ‘modem’
On linux it is technically impossible that something installs without you (the administrator) knowing it. There are some anti-virus programs but these are mostly for the protection of the windows users (linux can spread virusses but is immune to them).
The general rule in linux is: “If you know what you’re doing, you are safer than on any onther platform”
In windows it feels like the computer has it’s own life (and I don’t thrust that guy :P), in linux I control the computer. About mac: I do not like apple (the company) and I don’t know much about their products.
I like Mac's mainly because they operate on UNIX. I like Linux because it feels like UNIX. What other operating system will let you type...
rm -rf /*
and happily comply (as long as you login as su)? I tried that once on a machine that I was going to reinstall the OS on anyway -- lots of fun to watch it melt down.
Wow…I browse with firefox on mac and have a program called http://noscript.net/ I would hate to think how many vulnerable scripts you are loading into your browser on your mac. Hope you dont use your credit card online.

I don't use Firefox. I use Safari, which has anti malware checking internal to it. Why use Firefox on a Mac? I find that Safari is much faster, and has that cool grid thingy.
Oh ok didnt know the antil malware was internal on Safari. I cant find anywhere that it shows what it has blocked, does it update automatically? For instatance this page has at least 2 things blocked, the main page has 5, probably just ad’s but its good to know. Safari does seem a bit faster now may give it go for a while
Thanks for all the tecno info guys, I do appriciate it. unfortunatly Im useing a Co. laptop and I am not suppose to be adding or removeing programs. but I will delete the google tool bar as that came with google earth that I installed (had to have it)
I had tech suport connect up and they ran some malware thingy but I still get some weird things. I will probly have to sent it to them some day.
Howzit kensurf, If you are using a company PC then they should have their own tech support for the company and I would bring it to their attention unless it's ano no to use it for other things like going online to Sways.Aloha,Kokua
