board #3

Failed again .

any body got any advice on how to attach photo’s on a mac?

Same way you do it on every computer.

Upload your pic somewhere and click on the tree icon and paste the URL.

I’ll have a go at embedding;

[img_assist|nid=1041161|title=My Local Beach|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=100|height=75]

Whooooooooooeeeeee - Here is how I did this : -

Click the end icon (in the reply screen), it looks like a camera, click ‘upload’, choose the pic you want to embed from your computer using the ‘browse’ button in the embed screen and fill in the text boxes. Select ‘open’ or double click the filename of your pic, . Job Done.

I don’t know what the maximum filesize is - this is a small jpeg, a few hundred by a few hundred pixels.

Its a start though !

Where I come from, that’s called a thumbnail. 100X75 pixels, and a whopping 2.65 kb.

I’m not using a Mac. I can’t figure out all the tree talk…Load your photo into one of the photo sites. I’m using Photobucket.com…Not because I know what I’m doing but because someone on Swaylock’s said it would work…

Look at your awesome photo on the photo site…right click…click on “copy”…go to Swaylocks.com…right click…Paste…done deal…right or wrong I don’t know…

Below the message body you are trying to type is a box that reads “File Attachments.” If clicked, you can access any files (including image files) that are on your hard drive. You just have to know where on your hard drive they are located. The new improved program automatically resizes to maximum allowable size. I hope this works…

Hmmm - Hey John, how 'bout a size that fits on the screen easy… Ha! Maybe it’s just me, but half your picture is “off” my screen and I have to scroll over to see it all…

Taylor,

You need a bigger screen. The image resizing is designed for a 1024 x 768 monitor – and that’s pretty small these days.

Gday Guys I’ve taken all advice on board, lets see…

Success, don’t know what I did differently this time but thanks everyone,

P.S. This is the third board I’ve shaped for my mate it West Oz.A 6’3’ twin fin fish. It has its own unique story about being lost then found months later. If any one is curious of the details they can read the story if the search threads for 'Karma"

if this was anywhere near a high school there is an almost 100% chance that someone would have added ‘ers’ to the end of the sign…

Hi BCKyle -

No high schools nearby. It’s kind of “No Man’s Land” between San Simeon and Big Sur heading north. That’s the way it reads, no Photoshop or anything.

Howzit John, So you’re saying the new Swaylocks program wil automatically resize the picture so it will work, no more using photo bucket or tiny pics. That in it’s self would make the changes mike did to the website well worth it. One thing I did was uninstall Mozilla nd down load the latest version of internet explorer and have had no problems with anything.Aloha,Kokua

Hi Kokua -

I’m no expert on the technicalities. I just know that when I click “File Attachments” down below the main window in which I’m typing, a box opens that says “Attach New File” with a “Browse” button to the right. Click “Browse” and find your file on your hard drive. Double click that file, then click “Attach” button and it appears in your post when you hit “Post Comment.” I then received a message that said the file had automatically been resized.

A very nice new feature!

Just tried it and didn’rt work, git the same old to big notice

Sheesh… I wonder what’s up with that?

I’ll try again and see if it’s still working for me.

I loaded a giant image file (2288 X 1712) and the message popped up saying, “The image was resized to fit within the maximum allowed resolution of 728x600 pixels.”

I don’t know… sorry I couldn’t be more help. Hope you’re feeling better!

While the resizing function might allow for images larger than 728x600 (which isn’t all that big) to be downsized, the file size might be too large for upload. You can have a 1024x800 jpeg that’s only 125 kb, or another 1024x800 that’s 3 mb. File size and image size are two different things.

Howzit John, one thing i notice is on my reply page it only says file attachments in the lower left hand corner and the 2 clickable pictures in the upper right hand side say insert/edit image and the other 1 says insert or update an embedded image. Very strange that we should have different wording on the reply page, might have to do with different browsers.Aloha,Kokua

Test for attachment function. This one is actually 2144 x 1424, as it appears on my HD. File size was 618kb, resizing made it 70.75kb.
