The Death of future primitive. the BYGONE SOPHISTICATED

Aloha Charlie:

I don’t care what you build… you always do nice quality work.  Thanks for showing us.

Fantastic! I can’t wait to see the end result.

Yeah Lowel, no stringer makes a difference on extreme rocker changes. Beggars cant be choosey with 14 foot blanks. Lucky to have this one given to me to goof around with. I have been enjoying the vac bag with carbon fibe and other unusual fiberglass products lately. Making an 8’8" stringerless next with all the bells and whistles. Getting close to the end on this current project.

Merry Chirstmas Dennis. Been using that file you sent me lots lately for all sorts of projects. Trued up my tail prior to tail block placement. Worked awesome.

Been having problems getting on this site for 3 days or so. Seems to be working fine now. Got to go towing at my test spot again today. The swell never really came in due to too much shadowing from Kauai. Would have been perfect for the BYGONE SOPHISTICATED trial run. Mushy 15-20 footers with low wave energy. Christmas eve is calling for huge surf with a 22 second interval. Leaving the Bygone S under the tree that day.

Tail patched the preglass fin boxes, roughed sanded patch and glassed bottom and filler coated(no pictured). Making good progress. Too long for my regular glassing room so I cleaned up the messy area and did it out there without drama. Will get the deck tomorrow and then sand and make pretty somehow.

Lookin like a giant hot dog ! Need more fin boxes with musterd and catchup !!! Oh and blessings from Ambrose !

Finished the BS(bygone sophisticated) and decided to have some custom artwork on it. This is a $200,000 paint job because my daughter will be doing it. I sent her to college so that’s how I came to the value of the artwork. I think it will be awesome. Below is the first suggestion that was sent to me that I declined.  Next post will be buffed out board ready to go.

Pic of rejected artwork below.

[… Yes !  You nailed it as usual , Harry ! ]

… and for that [your last sentence] … some ‘people’ here hate him ?!

… I feel sorry for the haters…  they are the anti-fun brigade .  (Because they are never having any [fun] , they don’t want anyone ELSE to … haaaa ! … they’re just  numbnuts , the lot of them !! )

" Odered my big wave balls also. They arrived in one piece but were metric fittings and my are nuts are english fittings. Will have to purchase an adapter. "

  haaa classic , mate !

you hawaiians are such fun loving guys.

  …mine never arrived ,

so , instead , I am left with  the ‘eunuch’ version . [boards for waves head high and under ]

college fees artwork …

…not a bad idea , come to think of it

can’t wait to see the finished work , bb30 !

  cheers

All done, finished with 1000 grit, washed off the sanding dust. Getting up to nerve to go out starting monday.  My daughter squirrled out on me with the art work so I had to do the art work myself.

Well Charlie…plenty of surf coming for the christening!

Some talk of the Eddie…but weather might be an issue…nice south shore rap today!!

great thread

great build

i dig the color work

Since the board is to Yoda, I’ll say… “may the force be with you” when you take it out there. That’s a modern day Olo board.

woohoo

 " … oh what a feeling …toyoda !  "

Roger,

I am glad I own some brown surf trunks.

Charlie

Beautiful board, nice lines.

Have been surfing wrap from these swells on the south shore 3 days in a row. My stokemeter has been on full. Heard of more to come later in the week and checked surfline. Saw this report, and did a doubletake:)

Hope the wind direction doesn’t mess up wed calling 50+ feet. SNN calling SW wind which will be possible and PC calling NW winds which will make it victory at sea. West side greeen laterns???

Charlie, green lanterns is a great wave when it breaks way out around the point and peels around. Only thing is it’s a right so you’ll be backside all the way.

I towed there 4 years ago about 1 mile off shore. no one in site and it was 20 feet+ but not throwing. I am a regular foot and I love backside left when towing. If it is low NW winds it will probably be ridable. If my tow partner can’t make it I am also considering paddling TURTLES which is between ko’olina and tracks. Wed with low SW winds I plan on the mile out bouy at haleiwa and will go right to the channel. I am going regular paddling tomorrow but will probably be more inside to test ride this 14 footer. I put Keith’s 8" center fin on and two 5.5" sides. It looks like it might work. I feel better about the board  after I saw them mounted.
