2 of my 3 groms
wooho ! that’s GREAT guys … please keep 'em coming !!
I’m alway’s STOKED to see and hear of kids surfing !
It must feel great as a dad to know the family lineage of surfers is being passed on to them, eh ?
I’m stoked to hear that my nephew rips…and so’s his dad ! [It’s kept Eli drug free, healthy, and happy - while some of his peers have unfortunately fallen by the wayside. ]
Derek Hynd had some VERY good things to say about that in the aforementioned ‘glass love’ issue interview…I hope he speaks them out in the dvd !
So, has anyone else got shots of their grommets, or themselves ripping when they were a grommet ?
Who is our youngest dad on this forum, I wonder ? And is your kid surfing yet ? If not, WHY not ?? […kidding, kinda!]

One of mine…
“B” workin on nose time…
Hey 7/10ths
Good to see someone planning ahead, he’ll fit into that wettie for a couple of years yet…
My girls want a wetsuit each but here in Western Australia the water stays around 70 deg year round so I told them it’s going to be warmer in the water in winter…
Love the noseride, looks like your wave quality is the same as here. yuk yuk yuk…
cheers
Hicksy
Here’s my boy, Paul. He’s a bit older than your kids(almost 16) but still loves to surf with Dad and the old guys. Enjoy every minute with your children, the time goes by so fast.
this is my 4 year old nephew and my brother about to head out and also my 10 year old nephew (my sister’s boy) stoked after i just pushed him onto one. the board i put him on probably wasn’t the best choice, dead flat and heavy and he’s super light. lot of nose dives that day. i wouldn’t let him catch a wave that had already broken.
NOW THAT IS PURE STOKE.
Well done Jake!!!
I always get a buzz and a lump in my throat when I see kids getting so excited.
Thanks for the pics Lucas.

…10yo grommet Jake is riding pretty much the same size waves as 44yo grommet ben… aahhh, summertime…
[frame grabs from video footage]
My younger stoked grom on the carveboard with me, the older one bodysurfing with my dad IN hawaii as I get done with a surf… I love the three-generation surf adventures…
Yeah Hicksy, the kids REALLY are alright! Big grin… It’s really cool seeing other’s kids livin right too, as we don’t see many kids in the water up here…always cold and often BIG, but sometimes it all comes together.

Hey Chip, how’s things? Still not much in the way of waves over there I see.
Here’s one of my boy Liam…goofy powerhouse extraordinaire!!!
yeah, good thanks Luke ! what have you been up to ?
been up the coast at all…?
ben
[geez, mate…I hope your son has a smaller mouth than his infamous helmeted namesake in hawaii in those eighties/ 1990s videos like ‘madmen, saints and sinners’ !]
Whether they are riding boards, bikes, horses, or even sheep, the youth still have a self-determined intent to ride it out, no matter what happens, all over the world.
Check this kids style! A natural goofy-foot.

here is my baby. she is only 3 months, so she can’t stand up, but as soon as she can, she will be riding wood. Jack.
Hicksy’s shot of ‘the kid’ ?
A young cf Perry…
I never knew…spent your childhood surfing sheep in New Zealand, eh ??
awesome !!
[in the absence of boards, kids improvise so readily…gotta love the inner grom in each of us , eh ? never let it die !!]

finally , Kate gets a go on the [“different” thread’s] “skurfboard”… while the "dali llama " glows in the background…
Yeah pity we can’t put video up, Kate took the drop standing up after that, and Mackenzie took off at the top lying down and popped up to standing half way down the drop.
Hours of fun with a couple of occy straps, an old board and a skatey.
Y’know, all the bitching and moaning I do about the surf biz - a million reasons to get out of it, the money is miserable, the hours, etc, etc, etc…
but seeing the grin on a kid’s face when they are first starting out and all - that’s why I’m still in the biz
doc…
