the MR photo thread...

thanks for your contributions guys!

Well, these are MR-inspired, for sure… but I’m sure mister richards would keep his distance if he knew about them.

This is from the Master’s at Makaha a few years ago. Shaun Tompson said it was 10’+ at times

that is one sexy board. how does she go ??

Happy days.

GREAT photo Lucky! i love that shot, congrats on your supertwin, mine goes great.

Thanks Josh

After snapping my 6’6" thruster during the 2nd big swell in April I ended up riding the supertwin on some 8ft days which was quite interesting. Anything up to 6ft though it is such a buzz to ride.

Supertwins are certainly nice boards.

Has anybody out there ridden a “1980s” MR yet? (By that I mean the model that MR has recently released that he says is a replica of the twin fin he rode in the early 80s)

I’ve seen a few of them popping up over the last few months.

Any opinions on how they go?

-Cam

No I haven’t ridden the 80’s style MR but a few months ago I’m talking to a guy in the line up and he asked me what I was riding, when I said a new MR he laughed and said he was riding an old MR that he got at the tip the day before for $5. It was still in good condition and he said it was fun to ride. What a find though he was so stoked and I was so envious.

Next time he’s out on it I’ll see if he wants to swap boards for a few waves, would be fun to compare.

i love my supertwin! i’m going for an MR session with colourful wettie and twinnie after i post this. supertwins are great and whilst i first feels sketchy in big surf, once you get some good ones the fast loose feeling is very addictive!

MR also makes sexy single fins and classy thrusters as well as twins and singles. I LOVE his shop! good prices on a lot of boards too.

after more months riding my supertwin i feel it goes unreal in anything even up to 8’ it holds in and flys!

Those MR boards are Faaarken sweet!. They look awesome. I especially like the fact they can make small waves fun by the sounds of it. I once rode my mates potato chip thruster as a twin in small surf, and i found that it went all over the place like a skateboard with seriously loose trucks!!, although im not a great rider of thrusters in general, and his board is waaay too small for me. Are they much harder to ride than a single fin??. Im used to my single fin minimal, and im wondering if i could ride one?. I surf front footed if that helps.

Okay, so anyone can post his “I can shape a MR like twinnie”…

Here is mine, back from the “twin & 1/2” thread…

Lovely shameless self promotion:

I believe a PDF zoom factor of 1000% gets the 6’6" to life size on a 15" screen

Ignore the APS boomerangs–although they’re apropos

Also don’t know about the cross-sections, but there ya go, ain’t ya. I think they feature lots of vee according to the MR copy up there somewhere…

hi beerfan!

i’ve found twins quite easy and very responsive once you get use to them.

well overhead newie wave

silver and red wetsuit

swooping turns

The same session he snapped this beloved ? 6’4 twinnie on ,
