THE NEW "show me your shaping bay" forum

This is my new space to shape in, i built the lighting shelves out of 3x2 utility studs and a bit of sheving pine, the flouros are only six foot long but beats shaping in my garage, also made a new set of stands while i was at it. Just gotta grab a foam yoga matt to cut a few squares off for my rack. I cant paint the walls cause its a rental, but i did lay some carpet over the existing ceramic tiles to dampen the noise a bit and to stop myself slipping over in foam.

paint the walls! you can always paint back over it before you leave!

My little shed, note the old broken shaping racks. Thankfully ive moved on and built new ones haha

Just finished up rearranging my shop. Used to be a 11’x19’ one room space that I shaped, airbrushed, glassed and sanded in. Changed it to two rooms. 8’x11’ shaping room and 11’x 11’ glassing room. I will adding a clear vinyl curtain like you see in commercial walk-in freezers to the shaping room entry to keep dust in. Got tired of dust all over when laminating.

sorry for the turned photo. Panorama pic from phone doesn't load right due to size.

Here you go.

just started shaping. For my first board I am using the carport with my boy. We both were working side by side today. I had him sanding a scrap piece of foam.

Using a shop vac for the planer. Need to figure out a way to get some better lighting so i can see the foam better. Also finding out that foam goes everywhere. thought it might blow off the car when i took it for a ride, but it seems to stick and create a nice abrasive coat on the car. Will see how long the wife lets me get away with this one.

Simple setup. Shop vac and a 12ft hose. Gets the job done w/o a mess.

My shed is 13 foot long, 10 foot wide.  I still have to finish around the air con.  Im mainly going to be making epoxy river tables and waterfall fall tables, plus some epoxy lamp stands and bread boards.  Im using mainly tasmanian woods.  The small slab here is huin pine.  Ive sourced a mob in Newcastle that im getting my epoxy from and its a 24 hour setting time with the temp to be regulated at 24.  I can do a build thread if you like but its not a surfboard, though it is using epoxy.  From the profits Im hoping to get some blanks to make some belly boards as ive got a mate who is terribly injured and may not get back in the water, this may be one way he can still enjoy those one foot days he can go out in and one for me as well, twin fin bonzer belly for me just for something different, lol.  Ordered the peg board hooks to organise my tools better.
