josh   dave    r 180      i got some to try a few weeks back never even opened  it

great news to here you guys are on it

**josh how is it on dark wood no prbs
**

Hey Huie,

My main drama is not so much yellowing as that the Divynicell goes funny colours if not covered, hence the 2pac.

Yellowing on wood would'nt be any biggie...its already, like, wood colour!

yea  yellowing just makes the wood look mellow  (good look)

i was meaning on real dark wood like old growth ceder ( aus)

some resins have a tendency   to show the weave;       i have not tried what kayu is using      i am aware of the process

**and will have a closer look   **

Ok Blokes

Thanks for the replies on the R180 resin. It sounds like the base resin I’ve been looking for , good to hear  you guys are having positive results with it. I have an FGI a/c but have never looked to them for epoxy ! DOH !

I’m  doing a lot of epoxy repair work and have been looking to find a resin system that won’t be wasted under skins, paintwork etc. Getting a nice collection of veneers together , one roll of qtr face Kauri looks like gold  can’t wait to see it under resin.  When the time is there I want to do a couple of new ones for myself , got a trip to Samoa coming up so best I get jiggy with it.

Thanks again

Cheers

Hey Guys

I spoke to the FGI rep a couple of month ago and he told me that FGI have just released a new surfboard specific epoxy.

Anyone heard of this or used it.

Apparently it is UV stable.

Cheers

Sorry Kayu

We seem to be getting away from the paint discussion.

But as you know, one thing leads to another.

Cheers

Its all good................................as they say!

I've got carve a fish out of a 16'x4'x3.8' 500 pound block of EPS foam..it's got to be painted..no glass...surf board guys are the first people I thought to ask about paint.

Just need to be clear/review....high acrylic paint, mixed with FUTURE floor finish...and no more than a 1:1:1 mix with water...(I'm hand brushing the paint)

QUESTION:  Will a 2-part epoxy hard coating (styropoxy from HotWireDirect go over this paint?)

Fish will be set on sandbank in Wisconsin river....if uncoated bottom comes in contact with water...is this bad?  OK?

I've got one shot at this..no time to experiment...any advice would be great...

thanks..Linda

Just go with an epoxy paint and be done with it. Even if you just do a base coat of the main color, then acrylic over that for the details, then clear over the whole thing.
