Hi Ben, been having internet problems here so sorry if i dont reply for a bit etc,
glad the cloth made it to ya, yeah just use any of the cloths for the fins , use the one you have most of , I can always send you more if you need ,
Cheers
ah yes , I like to share with my kiwi brothers , I have some good friends from N.Z. My most gorgeous neighbour ever was [is] a maori lady . Gosh , I miss her [but perth's loss is queensland's gain , I guess...]
Okay , so it looks as though I have found a use for the 'failed' 'prepreg inlay' green tint fin panel[s] , after all !!
If they are double foiled , hopefully that will get rid of the air bubbles [ which I think may just be on the first few inside layers of the panel only , hopefully ? ] . Once that is removed , the result will be green tinted twinzer front fins...
also [perhaps for a back trailer when using the huuuge twinnys 'alone' , Noe ?]
okay , so to give myself a clearer picture of the board these fins will go in , and the plug placements , I did darker versions of the photos you took , Noe . Hope you don't mind ?
received your parcel today . Thanks very much ! (Six days door to door is pretty quick , I reckon , from n.z. to woz ! )
Yep , I can do the template you sent , matter of fact I can do TWO , if you like ? So then you would have the option of using [them ] as front side twinzer runners ! [I have done similar with my Walden , putting keels in the back plugs.]
[shown with the ones 'beerfan ' sent me , which I cut down....
..... but , I HAVE also used the mini-runners / ? 'nubsters'?? with a 'glo' keel ]
By the way ... I currently have a coupla 'glo' panels , so you timed it well, mate !
I will be getting more resin on Thursday , so will lay up the 'twinzer small fins' panel then , all going well ...are you happy to go with the 3"x3" 'finlets' template I drew up for them then , Noe ?? [ ie: the one with the tick , and 'do this !' written on it ?]
Also , I will give those funny fins you sent a try , at the first opportunity ...thursday is forecast to "be offshore" , so ...we shall see , eh ? I'll either try em in the 6'11" richie west , or the 6'6 walden . (Or , I 'might' even break out the 6' 'orange stub' , 'IF' there is swell enough ...watch this space , eh ?! )
i just layed up three panels this arvo , by the way ... all with the same brown linen ...[1 for single foiling , one for double foiling , 1 for ?????????????
Hey Ben, looking good, nup the 5 finner is a Quad plus one setup so will use the nubster a la Kelly slater in the center, heres an image of the fin layout pre glass:
...what are the distances on those back dots from the tail pod , please ? ....are the front sideys around ? 11" ? , so you could do a [forward] twin or twin keels with trailer / thruster / 2+1 setup ? [ or , the back plugs with your twinnies ? could be fun ? ]
re: the ' half-pipes' fins ....
due to the smaller swell today , i ended up using the 'halfpipe fins' as sideys in the 9'4 mal [!]. caught over 20 waves on it . It probably would have been an idea to have brought down my crv webbers for a comparison , too, but i'll [surf willing] use THEM tomorrow ...,
Hi, yip the front fins are at 11 1/4" from the tail and the back quads are 5 1/4" from the tail, so would be ok to set up as a twin with trailer but I think the board suits a quad plus I want to try the fifth fin in the center, hopefully finish the board up this weekend…
