Looks like you’ve been scoring. I surfed up north last week and had some good ones on my new 6’6". Looks like all the sun has been down in that neck of the woods. Thanks for the pics.

I’ve been trying to get out at least once or twice a week this winter. I called in ‘sick’ today and felt that some surfing would be theraputic, so I made a dash for the Straits. Not much to report though; the anticipated WNW turned out to be W and kinda put a damper on the wave action.
I’ve been working on my thesis project in design so I have been super out of the loop. Only a few sessions is a long time.
Hey, did you happen to see the article in this months SURFING mag? It labels a bunch of spots and shows photos and stuff??? Even gives mileage from one spot to another along the only road!!?
It blew me away.Funny thing is…it was a snowboard film crew that hooked the whole thing up. It’s all about “gettin in the mag” I guess.
Yeah the ‘spot’ (not the dump) they were talking about is pretty well known, but I’m glad they didn’t give all the details. I made the mistake once of posting a few pic of it on a friend’s site and got bitched at pretty good by a few guys who came across it. I guess I understand why they were pissed.
I think people were pretty surfed out…the swell had been dropping all day & these shots show the tide filling back in. The day before was the Mavericks contest and this spot would have been overhead ++; even in the morning of these shots, it was probably head high. Rooster & I surfed a spot further into the Bay (more protected) around noon while the tide was lower, and it was bigger than these…but not quite so perfectly lined-up. Even so, you’re right, the lack of human intrusion is a little puzzling…
Here are a few pics from today’s trip out to the coast. I was forced to shot into the sun so they didn’t turn out as good as I’d like them to, but I figured I would share anyways.
