Watercolor?

Ambrose, thank you for the kind words. Without swaylocks and specifically woody, this project would have for sure gone astray. And yes… those are the towels i reserve for you haha.

Woody, as soon as I type this sentence I am going back out into the addition to dry and fix those laps. Any words of advice for fixing those little airbubbles on the hull, or just leave them?

Thank you

Alex

Nope don't leave them, cut them open or grind and repair. If it's pretty flat you can just cut the weave and pry up to force some resin under the blister. The dry spot on the left side needs to be addressed the same way..if resin won't go through it then cut one side like a flap force resin under the flap with a short bristle brush or whatever you can get to force resin in there. I always keep a baby medicine syringe around for these little episodes but whatever will work...coffee stir stick...small straw...etc.   Good thing is with UV you can do a couple little spots and flash it to see a pretty quick result...

Alright, it has been quite some time but I just finished sanding today. School got pretty crazy there for a little while. The board is done and I am dropping it off at my cousins house tomorrow which, ironically enough, is his birthday. Happy birthday Joe! But I had a good deal of problems with laminating the top, I tried to laminate two layers of 6oz cloth in one go… Not a great idea for an amatuer glasser such as myself. I got through it and proceeded with the hot coat. There is one small dry spot in the hot coat and I talked to my cousin about it and he said dont even worry about it. He is getting anxious. Open to criticism, actually I encourage it. I learned a great deal from doing this board and am happy it did not go smoothly (learned more). Thanks for all the help Woody!

Hello Xander...The board looks great! and the next one will be even better. Thanks Woody, I just sat back because you've got it wired.........Ray...

Looks like a surfboard!

Way to go Alex, like Ray said each one gets better...I hope you learned tons!

Cheers!

Woody

Thanks guys, ill try and give a ride report sometime in the nere future. My next project is a log for this summer. My buddy that lives down the way, has a ten foot Dano noserider that he said I could pull a template off of. Just going to shrink it and call it a day.

This is what has been sucking up a lot of my time, and money at that, haha.

Hey Ray,

BTW Thanks for keeping an eye on this thread, I really enjoyed helping Alex get through this project…somehow I knew you were looking over our shoulder… and that felt just fine to me…I knew you would chime in if needed…THANKS!

Don

Hello Xander, Hello Woodie,

I've made some really good friends through this site. And I mean real people not just cyber friends. One of my friends got so overloaded with Swaylock's information that nothing would work. So I know that too much information can be bad for a new glasser.... and I saw that you guys were doing a great job...don't need too many cooks in the kitchen! In my workshop there is a roll of paper towels mounted above the workbench. It gets used alot with colored resin.

Sometimes I'm an A-hole......I'm not making excuses.....I did a thread on epoxy Mexican Blanket...do a search...also search for Austin Surfboards on U-tube...aka Austin Sanders.....he's posted quite a bit on Swaylocks...gotta go back a few years

Have a great day....Stingray
