Wavefin [winged side fins ] test ride thread

GO FOR IT , Brett !

I'll be interested to read how that works for you .... what OTHER board[s] do you have set up with the two back finboxes side by side ?

this little 'point and shoot camera' of mine doesn't focus really well in the dark [sorry about the last shot's 'fuzziness' , but hopefully you get the idea , anyway ?!]

  cheers !

  ben

I can send you a second set after mickD has tested them, two weeks from now!

Ben, I dont have any boards set up with the double single plugs but when I get the fins I'll start adding them to several boards. Thanks for the offer Malaroo, see what happens.

"ondalay , ondalay , yeeehaaaa !!"

Got an almost new longboard ready as the first test ride with the fins.

After that a lightweight longboard,

 then a fibreglass bodyboard

[IMG]http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s225/SURFFOILS/foilround001.jpg[/IMG]

and then a shortboard.

Gagging to get some fins !

I have some other experiments done but I am keeping them secret until it is time to tell about them I may wish to patent the design

Those two blue fins look like a mean combination. They look real hot on the board.

I see in some of the pics you may not have the wing seated all the way. Once the spline is in line it should pull right in to be flush. But do not over tighten the screw.

hi Mark !

yeah , I did wonder about if there WAS  meant to be a gap between the wing , and the fin ??

"Once the spline is in line it should pull right in to be flush"

can you please explain what the 'spline is inline ' is meant to look like , because try as I might , I can't get the wing to sit flush with the fin , no matter WHAT angle I tilt the wing at ??   ....It just seemed like the hole wasn't big enough for the threaded part [?"spline" ?] to sit flush INSIDE of ??? Am I doing something wrong here ?

 malaroo ?

 knowaloha ?

surf foils ?

did you manage to get YOURS flush with the fin??

  cheers guys !

  ben

Certainly not a press fit, but good enough, line it up, bite the screw, tap it and tighten the screw. Just checked now, they went in all the way.

If you want us to test sectret fins, just come up with an agreement we sign so that there is no claim on the design. We don’t have to show the fins, but we can create an interest and if you want offer suggestions. You benefit and we get to go surfing and report … we love it.

cheers Mark !

and , I second what 'Malaroo' John wrote .

if you want , we will agree to secrecy [ and no photos or details of the fins ] , regarding any future products of yours , until patented ...

(you're okay with the shots I have already posted , meantime , as this is already patented , eh !)

....cheers !

[Rowan got just this one useable shot ... just as he arrived , and I left . I had an hour and a half of emptiness , this size and bigger , mainly lefts .  I think this may have been last tuesday  ?? ]

....this was in the 6'11" Richie West 'bullett' [thruster]

  cheers !

  ben

Yes it should pull up flush. I tested it before I sent it and made sure it was a good one. If you look at the meshing parts you will see little splines it is a mechanical thing. Search the term. Or have a look here.  http://www.mcadcentral.com/solidworks/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=1984&PN=1

Hi,

It wont be until August before the prototype is made it wil be a secret until then, but I will let you know when it happens.

Just got off the phone from Mr Wavefin, my fins are on the way.

 Look out you guys !

good stuff !

time for OTHERS to report their findings !

'malaroo' , have you surfed them again yet , standing up ?

  'knowaloha ' ???

today I've taken the wings off , the surf is tiny ...

Going to ride my mal , with just the [kinda] 'hockey stick shaped' [now wingless] 'wavefins' as side fins , and a mini winged keel in the finbox.  Shallow , very very shallow shorebreak out there , today . And a cold morning , so I'll stretch for a while and hit it in an hour or so , is the plan , at THIS stage , at least.....

I really want to ride that old clunker D fin  I posted here , that Ross bought from Rowan [it was his dad's] .But it may be too shallow , methinks !  I've always been very curious to ride an original 1960s D fin , though .... just to see what the fuss / '?hype?' is all about , anyway ?

  cheers !

Flying saucer busted again, internal centrifical force module playing up. Nearly crashed into Parliament house on a test ride. Give me a few more days to fix it, then I will fly down the coast. MickD is keen to ride. Hope to make a movie, to send to Mrwavefin, see if he wants use it.

yeehaaa !!

soon [hopefully ?!] , we will be getting SOMEWHERE  with the testing ?!

.....great stuff Mal[a] !!

" Flying saucer busted again, internal centrifical force module playing up. Nearly crashed into Parliament house on a test ride. Give me a few more days to fix it, then I will fly down the coast.

as long as mick is sworn to secrecy over the saucer ...

wouldn't want gerringong to begin a saucer invasion , might scare the cows away

but on a less serious note ,

I hope you and mick score chips or bendy or pipe or brewahrre [sp?] or greeny , SO many quality waves for the winged fins [and your spaceship !] to fly over ...

just , be aware .... I will be monitoring your movements closely , guys , via my [yellow camouflaged foil] connection....

 cheers

  and ....   photos please !!

Hey Ben, yep I’m keen to test pilot, can’t wait and as you say there’s some great waves down the coast here, many I’m yet to explore (it’s hard when there’s a great break at your front door though  ).

hmmm, that might explain the sour milk after last time Mala’ was down
