Wavefin [winged side fins ] test ride thread

Hi,

This is a bit of infomation on how to lubricate the wing thread and spline.

Got my Wavefins yesterday !

[IMG]http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s225/SURFFOILS/The%20FLYING%20V/june2012002.jpg[/IMG]

Clear instructions on the back.

[IMG]http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s225/SURFFOILS/The%20FLYING%20V/june2012003.jpg[/IMG]

Heres whats in the bag.

[IMG]http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s225/SURFFOILS/The%20FLYING%20V/june2012004.jpg[/IMG]

Put them together with the screwdriver thats included.

The fins are all solid and smooth, the way they go together is simple and they fit easily. They look great in the flesh.

[IMG]http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s225/SURFFOILS/The%20FLYING%20V/june2012005.jpg[/IMG]

Easy to put together and theyre ready to fly.

I like that the fins have a professional feel and weight to them, the idea and design are new but its all done professionally.

Tomorrow I'll put them in a quad longboard and give them a blast.

.....YEWWWWW !!!!!!

I'm  stoked for you , Brett !

and I can't wait to read your ride report ...what is the [surf] forecast , mate ?

today I rode the wavefins , without the wings on !

And , used the mini winged keel [finbox one] ..... as the surf was small, I put them in my 9'4 mal.

Rowan took some photos , this was my first wave ....cheers , mate for the pics !

[ nice to see how the board sits in the water ...]

Then , I swapped to his water camera . [ Less wide-angled than the "go pro"  , but it takes sequences , which is handy !]

He  also brought down his 6' thruster , and a small foamie (! )  He found it at a council collection , driving to my place this arvo ...providence ! ...as , I had just mentioned on the "paipo and prone board" thread , that I wanted to try it ...[ 'prone boarding' ] . He ,  however , stood up on it , and even managed a tube ??   ....go , Ro !!]

[this is the setup I mentioned , that I rode today ]

Loaded the Wavefins into my chunky 9’6" longy.

Front fins are like G2’s

Review tomorrow after another day cruising on the new fins…

yeehaa

how's the surf there at present , Brett ?

  cheers

 ben

It is very nice to see that the fins finally got to you.

Thanks for sending them Mr Wavefin.
Ive had 3 days on them and its been an absolute blast.
The setup above was good for the smaller day on 3 ft waves, I fould feel lots of flow and speed like Ben said too. Even on 9 1/2 foot board it got up and going down the line and flew past closed out sections. Lots of fun with the top to bottom rhythm.
I didnt like that fin setup when the waves got bigger so I changed to this…

I used the FCS H2 ( Large) silver fins in front.

This was a great setup with the Wavefins in the back. It was a dumpy hollow beachbreak and I was hoping to get up and moving and avoid getting flogged.
I think the H2’s gave good grip and drive on the bottom turns and the Wavefins loosened up the quad setup.

Something wrong with my CPU and it wont send links cleanly. Bens posted the new setup below…

 Next ....

will you  have JUST the 'wavefins'  in the  ? 11" up [15"  up?] side plugs , and a thruster back fin , in that mal , if the swell drops tomorrow , Brett ?

and ...how far forward is the rear [thruster] plug , about 5" ?

  cheers mate !

 ben

Thanks for posting the pics for me Ben.

Work tomorrow but the current fin placement wil get a workout on Monday for sure.

Hi,

I hope it is ok I have been saveing the pictures that you guys have taken with the fin in your boards and use them to show case my fins as they look good in your boards. Your pics sell fins.

OK with me MrWavefin, love to help, hope to have some video footage for you soon.

no worries Mr. Wavefin !

...it's actually the least we can do , to help you out !

I'd love to be able to do more  [... but $  at the moment ...marvin gay's song [about money] comes to mind ?]  , since you so generously sent us free fins !!

thanks very much !

I SURE appreciated being able to give them 15 days of test rides . [...next ... Brett  ! .... he will soon have four to play around with , as he was keen to try a full quad set !]

I hope 'Mick D'   and 'Malaroo'  are able to  get some good piccies , showing the wavefins in action at [bawling] point waves ....and werri many other spots too, perhaps ?! [hint , hint  !]

malaroo, are you 'bawl'ing it now , or still stuck in canned berra ??  [yikes , maaaan !  " ...get OUTTA there , quick !  - 4  degree minimums ??  ....no thank you ! " ]

AND .....

*****  ...I hope 'knowaloha' is still with us ???    ****

Hi,

It is hard to make any real money as an inventor but it would be nice to make enough to make another 2 inventions.

It probably cost more money to make inventions than what money you make. But as just another inventor it is fun.

But in time some one may come along and complete the work if it is a good idea. It is food for the thought.

Its a long expensive road to the top of the fin invention success pile.

Glad its you not me. Would love to see you come up with a winner, make a quick million and shout the beer for the end of year fin testers party sponsored by Wavefin Enterprises held at the Gold coast, during the Quicksilver pro. Looking forward to it.

just seen this thread, would love to trial one…I ride alot of different fins and try alot of different stuff, and am on the Goldy weekly so would be MORE than glad to give some a run and give honest feedback…C-drive sent me a set a while back and I always give the truth when it comes to feedback…cheers,

Mr Pridmore, Im lovin my set but I didnt think I would when i first saw them.. Over the years Ive made a few hydrofoiled boards and put sidewings on fins and initially i didnt see what would be good about the Wavefins but after trying them I think theyre great,  they made my 9'6" longboard into a lively flyer and Im keen to try them on another longy and then a paipo.

I just Thraillkilled the paipo into a quad and I'll try 4 Wavefins on it.
