Wellen Surfboards. My newest project...

So since Windigo has decided to call it quits, I have begun a new project. A line of boards which I am designing and hand-shaping for the clothing brand Wellen.

Classy clothes.

This is the first batch.

5’4" Mini-simmons Actual George Greenough template.

5’8" Wing-pin Twin-Fin

5’8" Round Tail Bonzer (Inspired) Three

9’6" Longboard

All custom pigment colors and glass-ons.

Did all the work myself.

This Wellen thing has me feeling more enthusiastic.

It is nice to work with surfer-owned company again.

Barry, that is good to hear.

Boards look great. Im diggin that drab green.

Hopefully credit is given where credit is due.

Very cool. A guy with your skill and experience is always going to have work.

All Wellen good, haha!

are these boards going to be marketed, or promotional for retail displays?

the logo is very cool, and very retro - “gentlemen’s surfboards” is almost an oxymoron, you know.

“James, fetch me a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon, and throw my wetsuit and my purple Wellen in the Rolls, I think I’ll do a dawn patrol sesh tomorrow before the polo match” - ha! just kidding

I bought a windigo churchill after almost 6 years being out of the water, now I’m surfing 3 times a week. After checking out your website specfically your thoughts on “surfboard tech” i have decided to start shaping, you are an inspiration and I hope to get to shake your hand one day. cheers

keepin’ the purple boards alive !

i love it !

my best to you !

You were way to good for those winkdingo posers, so its better that they’re gone.  In my opinion they tried to use you to gain credibility in the surf market, but they couldn’t.  Obiviously you will survive and thrive, while they bail and fail.

That twin looks fantastic, and the color of the longboard is awesome.  Is the twin flat bottom or something else?

The Twin-fin (the green one) has a shallow single concave to double between the fin to slight Vee off tail.

That is my favorite contour for all these wide-tailed boards.

It has some MR style fins @9.0"

Some team guys took it to Nicaraqua.

That and the Bonzer.

Waiting for some feedback.

Thanks for all the kind words guys.

My friends at Wellen Clothing will be showing their clothes and a couple of these boards at the Agenda trade show  in Long Beach show this week.

Surf, skate, and more.

If there, stop by and say hello.

Gentleman’s surfboards… that’s pretty cool! Barry - is that blue twin fin a mini simmons offshoot? Pretty cool.

That blue Mini-simms is a template taken off an actual George Greenough board.

One of the advantages of having my studio in a ding-repair shop is the abundance of cool boards to look at and help to restore.

If those templates could talk.

I make sure to put the shapers name on them to give them the credit.

hey barry are those pigmented fillers or just in lam ?

Hey Zack,

that’s just a pigment lam job.

Couldn’t do the filler coat as they all had glass-on fins.

Your boards are looking nice lately.

Keep up the good work.

Barry!

Your boards are looking really good these days.  Way better than a lot of guys out there.

Enjoyed seeing your line up at the Boardroom!

…pigment work looks good, at least from here. I never had sucess trying to hide (completely) the stringer with Red, Yellow, Blue, Ocre, Grey, etc.

Logotype is better and cool than previous (the other brand)

All the work done by one (you) is a great thing in these times…we are very few.

Pictures look professionals.

Good luck with the project.
