what bothers you more: death, or not being able to surf anymore?
It was morbid curiosity that got me to click on this thread. Terribly dissappointed.
My stickers on my board will do the talking for me on this subject.

Changing the title of the thread bothers me. ;^)
no sense in fearing death…you won’t even know you’re dead…
Haha that’s pretty much the way I look at it too, but you’d sure know it if you couldn’t surf anymore, lol, I’d probably just make more boards so I could still feel connected.
Neither. It is what it is and time waits for noone. If it my time to hang the boards on the wall then I’ll be content in my memories and try to enjoy the ocean some way else. If I’m dead then what would i miss?
I don’t think I could live without surfing.
Hi Huck!
Hey back at ya - been awhile since we’ve seen you around! Hope you’re getting a few of these waves last few days!
Its funny - the older I get, the less the thought of death bothers me, and the more the thought of giving up surfing does bother me, lol
being so physically incapacited that someone else [usually , a STRANGER] feeds you , wipes ya arse , showers you …
[ which leads me back to my post , from a few years back …
'what legacy are we leaving behind , when we are 'gone '?
'['what is your legacy '?]
I think a more people are afraid of life than they are of death.
You are going to die, we do not control that. Failure to die is not an option.
We can however massively fail at life… life is short and we have choices to make.
I had a “career ending injury” in the 90’s. I was surprised that not surfing didn’t bother me that much when I compared it to not walking again.
I got better.
Good one mark!
i’ve given surfing a break many of times… for periods of years.
i spend alot of time in our great deserts/mountains++++raising two daughters…one in college…
…someone i know went thru firefighting school, some 10yrs ago, and was worried about his surfing.
i told him, do what you got to do…if that doesn’t include surfing…so what…when the time comes back to you,and you’re not so busy…the surf will be here,as it always has .
he’s now a house capt…and surfs frequently.
herb
ps…and when i die…i’ll surf there too!!!
I was watching a quick video on Bethany Hamilton, because my wife and I were debating how she could still get into waves with one arm. Her dad installed a rope grip for to grab so she can pop up. She still surfs. There was some other documentary that had a pro surfer that was paralyzed and people helped him out pushing him into waves. Point being, there are few things that can stop you from surfing.
Now death, as long as you have done good, and left something behind, you should be ready.
Huck, I think we can all contemplate Captain Goodvibes advice on this one:
“Surf’s short, life is long, so’s my dick, pass the bong”
I think watching someone you love die is worse than dying yourself. If it were possible I’d trade surfing for that.
morey said it,''does that include flying your hand out the car window?
…ambrose…
not surfing is
not possible.
now oilcompanies stealing
all the ocean water is possible.
see mars oceans and rivers
you know why not?Yep.
I have watched two people die in the last year and it sucked.
