winterfish - fish with pulled in tail

OK, I coined it. Lets see some pictures of fish boards with pulled in tails just for shitz n’ gigglez. I want nothing to do with boards that have wide points behind center. To me ,these are designed for women who have wide hips and small upper bodies.I want that float so I can get into the waves. Then i want to surf it off the rail with the hold of a tri or maybe twinzer tail setup. Is anyone making these?

Do tell.

How bout something like this with a tri?

I thought you were aiming for some kind of fish? That board is about as far from a fish as you can get.
The most common fish with a ‘pulled’ tail would be Clyde Beatty’s “Rocket Fish”. Google that one.

Do you mean boards like the G&S Mini Fish, the
Rawson Twin Fish, the MR Flying Fish, and the McTavish Twin Fish. which
break away from the true retro fishes in that they add more curve in the tail,
smaller (but still fish-like) swallows, and tend to be ridden an inch or two
longer than their hard core fish counterparts. They also may or may not include
a trailer or “stabilizer” fin, in combination with more modern bottom contours,
rocker, and rail profiles.

Thank you. Yes that’s it.And lets not forget the Lost Round nose fish.If these were ordered a bid longer than normal …say 6’2" would they hold in relativly larger surf?

Ask Clyde Beatty.  He was designing a board known as a "Rocketfish" as far back as early 70s.  A thruster swallowtail is pretty far removed from what is commonly referred to as a fish.

Excellent vintage photo of the original ''rocket fish''. That's certainly in line with the OP's thoughts.

But the RNF is also in the ballpark. That design did a lot for the acceptance of ''fish'' type boards (and I put it in quotes cuz it's not a true fish). I know guys that have ridden them in some really good waves, like Indo boat trips. A slightly oversize version might be a good choice for ekim.

Dan Tomo is doing some really interesting stuff...

This is Josh Hall's rocket fish at 7'2 x 20 x ??...

This is what immediately came to my mind in your original question

bumping for pure entertainment value

(not convinced about this type of design 'letting me down' if I found myself on one in large surf)

That's what I call a winterfish. It's not a fish, though.  What do the fins look like?  Mike

What kind of fin options would I have for this type of board? Could this shape be a tri fin or would I have to change the tail, …or would a quad hold better than a twin in larger surf.

What I really would like is this shape ,in a mini squash  ,with a standard tri-fin tail.Would this work?
