Ambrose,

I took the book and board to Steve Shearer’s place. My understanding is that it ended up with Mark Pridmore. Not sure whether it passed on to anyone else.

Yep, a nice day at a very long beach would be good for that board. Funny,  nobody fails to ask about the beer tap mick, and you have one yourself?. I can honestly say i make better beer than boards hehe.....

GOOD  on you , Beery , good on ya Mick !

Hi Bob,

We didn’t get a pic but I will no doubt see Beery again with the board and I’ll chase up a new book so we’ll see how we go.

Mick,

Good to hear thigs are rolling along. I e-mailed Steve last Friday. No reply as yet.

Ambrose suggested Volume 2 - an 8x12 format hard back sketch book. Did you get a photo of Beerfan with the board/the handover?

My suggestion - someone gets a book and Beerfan does the first entry. From memory, the book had drawings/ photos and a message about the board or life in general. The idea is that each person who rides the board makes an entry. Book then accompanies the board.

Good to hear the board is being surfed and enjoyed,

Bob

Update:

I picked up the board from Beerfan yesterday on my way home from work. He’s a great guy and we could have waffled on for hours about boards and stuff, and I didn’t dare bring up the beer tap on the fridge just like the one I have!

The board’s in pretty good nick considering it’s travels and age, thanks again Bob for your hard work and contribution to get it moving again. Any luck yet with the book? Can’t wait to have a read, the family were blown away when I showed them some pic’s on old threads of the board and the story so far.

I’ll track down as many local Sway’s crew as I can and organise a ride day or something and hopefully get some pic’s and video.

Cheers,

Mick.

Hey Ben,

no that wasn’t me (w4xhead), I only started surfing a few years ago, will ask around though, Gezza is a small town

Yes, that is Mick ‘Mad Dog’ Morgan, we are in Club Mal-nutrition the local longboard club, he’s into the sup’s these days as well.

We were blown out of pointscore (again) last weekend and I think we’re trying again tomorrow so I’ll probably see him then or at least in the car park some time soon.

Mick.

Hi All,

Well it looks like I might be next in line in if Rosco doesn't want it.

I had my first surf in seven months yesterday afternoon after a two level artificial disc replacement, and i am as keen as a grommet.
The board seems in line with what the Dr recommends I ride for the next few months.
I would be stoked to give it a go.
If the fin needs a fix up we'll bring her back to new.

Mark if you still want some EPS I have just got some finished Mini-mal shapes from Lenny 30kg/m3, 7'9".
Just let me know.

Regards

Daren

gday one and all,

It's all true. Got the board - thanks w4xhead, and thanks again hicksy and all who've made it a reality.
From now on I'll call the board 'SL06'. Been some good waves around here of late so it was pretty interesting to see how SL06 went in waves with a bit of grunt. Fri arvo and the swell (thankfully) had eased up from about 6-8ft into the 4-6ft range so I knocked off early and gave it a whirl.

Using the big blue back fin and the little blue keels on the side. The boys in the car park had a good chuckle as I unveiled her and had an even bigger giggle (I suspect) watching me get flogged paddling out. Thankfully, snared a good lull and snuck through it - she paddles pretty well (as you'd expect looking at her).

4-6ft sets - beachbreak peaks and clean as a whistle - SL06 paddles so nice - getting into them was the best bit. She goes really good cruising in a straight line.

Most likely my technique - but on the first couple I'd drop straight down the face, get to the bottom then try to ease it around into the pit and but found I was losing a lot of speed through the turn and was basically bogged in the pit - lost all speed and got chewed a couple of times. Angling in worked better. So hard to turn her - needed to get right on the tail or go the hawaii survival stance to get some sort of leverage.

All in all - great fun. A few of the boys were keen to take her for a paddle.
The swell's disappeared so it'll be small wave trimming for the next little while. Change a few fins around and see how she goes.

Board's in great nic - I'll post a pic or two - and try to get a few more bods to have a paddle. Maybe a week or two and I'll drop it down to the 'burra.

cruise,

quentin.

hope this helps you contact them , mick and 'malaroo' ?

let's hope "w4xhead" , if he's not you , mick , is still in the gerri [n]  gong eh ?

 cheers guys !

update / edit ....

rosco and daren ['ent and quent ' !] have both received p.m.'s , telling them about Ambrose's board , and providing the link to this page of this thread ...

now , we shall see what happens next eh ?

I'm sure they would both be keen for an excuse to surf good bawley on a better board than the first travel board [the 'Auslocks'] that they tried

Ambrose , and Proneman ...thanks VERY much for making this , the 'swaylocks single fin yellow' , available  to us ozpersons , too !!

  cheers guys !
