May I suggest scanning the book and creating a thread for it. That was a close call.
Hey bob you can send it to me if you want, mick isn't too far away. You still have my address?? if so, post her there.
Hi All,
Been busy of late, just bought and moved to a new (to
us) house and have been very busy with the whole process. Almost settled
in now though.
Ambrose, you would be happy to know the travel board is safe and sound and will
soon be looking to take it out for a day or two, it will be great to have a
read of the book and put the pair back together for the next section of the ride.
I fixed a small gloss coat shatter on the rail but there is no other damage, the board is in great condition considering its age and travels.
I’ll take some pic’s real soon and post 'em up.
Beery, when the book arrives I’ll bring the board (and a couple of others) over for a spin at your local if you’re keen?
Mala’,
will be looking to head down your way soon too, I’ll be in touch once I
contact a few other sway’s locals and organise a day and location.
Ben, keep an eye out for a courier in the next month or so
Cheers,
Mick.
Ok, hopefully the book is waiting for me when I return to work next week. I'll post it off soon after I receive it.
Regarding Malaroo's idea - I don't have a scanner that is good for more than a few pages - maybe some digital photos may do the job. I'll see.
Bob
Hey there all, I have the motivation to scan or take pictures and start a post if no-one else has. If it gets to Mick unscanned or un photogged I will make it happen. I have a scanner or two and a phone that takes pics. Phone camera is good enough isn’t it? Its better than a lost book. Any way, my motivation I will take responsibilty for my idea. Don’t feel obligated Bob. I’m keen.
Cool Bob, thanks.
I forgot about the scanner, I also have an A3 scanner which may be handy to scan 2 pages at once (i.e. with the book open and flat). I appoligise in advance if I beat you to it John
Either way there will be an e-copy about soon.
An e-copy, thats what we need, as long as its done, I don’t care if someone else wants to do it. I’m looking forward to see its contents. Some fun times ahead. Thankyou Mr Ambrose.
a thread on the book , so we can all read about its life and adventures and travels , would be VERY much appreciated ...and long overdue !
I'd be more interested in that , as we are in our summer shallowness and doldrums / howling offshores now .
You guys please hang onto the board and ride it as much as possible , and ? photos too, perhaps , please ?
have FUN with it guys , it's all YOURS !
I am happy now that I know it will be getting a good go in your waves there , and I HOPE Rosco ['quentin'] and Daren ['entity'] get to meet , greet , and surf it too , a la the 'Auslocks' board of the past
cheers and good waves to you all !
regards

Update,
Steve said he’d post the book around x-mas time. Since then I’ve sent e-mails, left messages on his mobile, sent a pm to Realsurf where Steve posts and spoke to a guy who lived nearby who mentioned I’d been in contact. I left a message saying I was in his neighbourbood (2 hour drive from home) last week and could drop by and pick it up. He’s moved so it may be in packing somewhere but I really have no idea.
Short of a miracle in the short-term, I’d suggest start a new book to accompany the board and see if I’m proven wrong.
How is the board going anyway?
Bob
Hi Bob,
No problem, I’ll grab a new book and get it underway, thanks for your efforts.
Haven’t had the board out, there’s been little surf to talk about really and any decent swell I take out the short board to take advantage.
Have spoken to Rosco recently and he’s keen for a day out so I will be organising that for the autumn swell arriving soon then get her ready for the trip west
Cheers,
Mick.
Hello Mick,
Sounds good. I still hope the book will arrive but in the meantime a new one sounds good. Hope you get some waves.
I lost track of who was planning to go to Hawaii.
Regards
Bob
Update,
I sent Steve an another e-mail recently but heard no word back. Today, I was surfing Lennox and was heading in. Who should I see but Steve, told me he was having a shit of a session. I arranged to go to his place and picked up the book. Sounds like after we discussed this, he had an ok wave or two.
I just e-mailed Mark, so hopefully book and board will be re-united. Who was going to Hawaii?
Bob
" I arranged to go to his place and picked up the book. Sounds like after we discussed this, he had an ok wave or two."
....karma !
thank goodness the book FINALLY has re-appeared !
.....WHERE had it BEEN , all this time ?!
ben
when weber died
the dewey decimal system
went to the krapper
and books became harder to find.
I always look for easy answers.
Kinda like paddling out.
Found book…now the first volume?
days are getting longer daily
in this hemisphere and in the southern
fall is slowly focusing the wave machine.
ahh fall and spring, and the smells of each
the fragrant night blooming dracina
has overtaken the fermenting mango
blossoms have turned to small fruit of sizes
ranging from didgit to palm. The new surfshop
kitten has kittens, waves off the point
are in the future and the past.
the travel board lives.
The book has surfaced
thanks to all concerned.
The board and book
will find their way.
The belief in itself is
the magic necessary.

how do you spell fibonacchi?
I wonder how many times
fibonacchi appears in the
book text.
when it is included
will it be more
or less credible?
I gather it was lost amongst packing boxes for a while and then there was a promised posting at x-mas, all a long story.
The important thing is that it will be soon on it’s way.
Bob
yes it’s two am
and I do wander.
…ambrose…
thank you all.
When I posted, Ambrose’s prose wasn’t visible, the reason being that we must have posted at exactly the same time 5:13. Now that is a bit uncanny,
Bob
the evidence of being on the same wavelength
is a gift only those who choose to care appreciate.
now let us see if we both press the button
at the same time this time

Hello Ambrose,
I only read your reply e-mail later in the day, but checked the time as I started typing today and it was oddly enough 5:18 (but when posted it was 12:20 US ).Yesterday I phoned Beerfan and posted the book , he will pass it on to Mick. Once re-united, the next question is whether the board goes west to Ben for a possible Hawaiian return or another option appears?
