“not me” said the little chipfish
so how do you steer that thing anyway?
A Skateboard for KONG?
awesome. You might even score some money from Paramount Pictures (or whoever produced King Kong) if you play your cards well.

…THAT is precisely why I wouldn’t be a crash test dummy …er…?test pilot? for the thing .
One thing …you gotta hand it to hicksy …
he’s always coming up with different ways of killing himself and others
[must be your army background resurfacing I think , Grant …DIDN’T they ever “debrief” you when you left the army ??]

So many questions…
Silly, you steer it just like a normal board, tilt one way and it turns, tilt the other way and it turns. It’s got the same pivot points as an ordinary board. Have a look at this piccie and you’ll see that the deck is tilted and the wheels have turned.
I’ll be test pilot…I trust my handywork…
Daklaw…much bigger… I first saw that in the guiness book of records and thought “that’s not big, I can do better than that” so I am…at the stage it is now without the kicks on it’s still a bit bigger, still got another 10’ to be added in length yet.
That thing is BOSS. You shoulda bought some big old off roading tires for it though, just to look cool hehe. That one in the GBWR shouldn’t count, it was made by a big company with tons of resources. Your’s is way cooler!
Thanks Nathan, some carpentry guys in South Australia built a beautiful 16’ board recently. They filmed it for GWR show and got an “expert” to test ride it.
He jumped all over the board while he was riding it but it wouldn’t turn, so didn’t qualify as a skateboard, more like a dolly.
Mine will be able to turn around in a road width…it got a great turning circle…
So…can ONE person turn it , with all that weight ?
how WIDE of a road to turn it in ?
how long will your finished board be ?
how long is the wheelbase ?
and for you to get into the books , do you have to push off to get it going ?
if so , HOW high off the ground is it ?
[you may have a few problems if the “Guiness people” want you to turn it around , and push it back up the hill by yourself [using ?leg power?] only , in order to qualify for the record eh ?]
cheers,
ben
p.s. - how does it and your 12’6 “sup” surfboard fit in the garage together ?
Hey Ben,
I can’t tell you all the figures obviously but here I go…
So…can ONE person turn it , with all that weight ? Yep, the whole thing sits on 4 HQ Holden upper ball joints. I’m putting gas shockies on it for when it loads up…
How WIDE of a road to turn it in ? Could do a Uey across two large lanes, the deck can lay over to 40deg…
How long will your finished board be ? Can’t tell you that yet but 20’ plus or minus 3’…
How long is the wheelbase ? Around 13’…
Do you have to push off to get it going ? That’s what hills are meant for, the current record holders used 2-3 people to push it and then jump on, got a nice hill about 100 yards up the road to test it on/freak people out…
How high off the ground is it ? The deck is waist height…about 3’…
[you may have a few problems if the “Guiness people” want you to turn it around , and push it back up the hill by yourself [using ?leg power?] only , in order to qualify for the record eh ?] No probs with that, it’s not an issue, pushes easy anyway…
It’s going to be about 5’ wide on the deck, truck width slightly shorter…
I’ve got some video of it in motion moving it around the workshop. I’ll post it somewhere here tonight…
“Wozzies do strange things!!!”
…indeed , INDEED !!! …
(…you do , anyway …)
…why can’t everyone just be normal , like ME ???
let me at it…please let me at it hahahaha
Bet you can’t kick flip that and grind whilst downing a beer hicksy…
You just keep raising the bar mate…
Skating down to the beach on the BSE and surfing the moonrocket is the only way to travel in style… soon all the pro’s will be doing it.

Aw heck, Freud would have a field day with swaylocks what with all the massive paddleboards, outboard-motor longboard fishing trawlers and now this!! “can you imagine going down the freeway in the states with this? they’d put you in prison!”
~“airplane wings go in the back”~
" Aw heck, Freud would have a field day with swaylocks"
I just KNEW my mates would call ‘[over]compensating" on me , when I made a 9’ mal earlier this year . (After all , I’d been saying the same thing for years about OTHER older , fatter guys and big boards !)
oh well … as long as my wang never drops off , shrinks , or heads north for winter , I can live with the abuse [and maybe even have the last laugh , who knows ?? hahahhh]
and … how about those guys that like driving those BIG truck-like 4W.D. thingys , eh ?! …
This is almost as much fun as jumpin a cab and shouting “follow that car!”

From the looks of things in the movie it looks pretty amazing
