World's Largest Skateboard (Official!!)

Haha! Looks like a nice longboard there chip! Any action shots? LOL!!

Actually I just finished my first board and had a go with it yesterday, it was awesome, the board works!! The stoke of riding your own hand made board… my buddies where like “holy Cr@p he really did it!!” …

Anywowzers, thanks to all at sways for all the info and sharing the stoke!! I know now, I’m hooked on this…

… it’s in a p.m. , "surfer dave " (so as to not further hijack hicksy’s thread]

cheers mate ,

 ben

Have you considered the problem of wheel bite? Difficult to tell from the pictures if it will bite, but that would be a nasty bail on something that heavy.

Very cool project, can’t wait to see the outcome.

Thanks TC, wheel bite won’t be a problem, I’m limiting the range of movement by using gas filled shock absorbers either side of the axles.

I don’t want it to lock up either…

BTW, I’m open to any sponsorship if anyone knows any companies wanting a bit of exposure. The attempt will attract a lot of media interest worldwide (15 mins to be exact)…

Naming rights could also be negotiated…

not to mention merchandise, clothing range, radio & tv interviews, movie contracts, screenplays, mcdonalds toys, etc.! go hicksy!

Hey Hicksy,

Have you thought about showing your “little” project to these guys? I bet they’d get a kick!!

Silverfish

Cheers,

Rio

maybe if you got some band to play on top of it , in full leathers and helmets , as they whizzed down the hill [a la the “whoa black betty blam be lam”" film clip] and it was filmed ,

you would get your fifteen seconds of fame on ‘MTV’ , Hicksy ?

re : sponsors ?

…maybe some big billboards with “swaylocks mad ‘scientist’ at work” written on the side of it , perhaps ? …just a thought …

cheers

ben

Hey Daklaw,

Just sent them a link to a piccie in the board building section…should be a hoot…

Just a bit of an update, finally got the shocks sussed out, put on the mounts and everything bolted in place.

Bent the steel for the ends.

Terry. owner of the shop, testing out the turning angle.

No lockups thanks

Hopefully everything comes together next weekend, just got to organise a flat bed truck that can handle 6+ metres to move it to my place for the woodwork and brakes…I’ll keep you posted…

…and HOW will you get it into and out of your garage , Grant ?

ben

Since you were last up my way, heaps of changes, I now have a 3 car garage out the front…plus an extra shed to go with the other one…

Plenty of room…

so the "bse’’ goes in the 3 car garage ???

Jo will be loving THAT ! not

Bovine Spongiform Encephelopathy…Hicksy, do you have mad cow disease ?

This thing is rad. I love it. Just watched The World’s Fastest Indian last night and old Bert Munro had nothing on you, G. I can’t wait for the action video…

great stuff flip tricks are gonna be kinda hard to land

no tow bar?

seems like a natural feature

as sk8 boards make great furniture movers

this b-u-tee could suerly double as a sup porter with a couple oc-1s

anna dory and altogether would make a fantastic parade float with a bevy of bikinified beach beauties covered with flowers on the skate top dujour.even a tow rope will eventually be employed when the folks go away on holiday.

you remember the mild mannered lad that was so friendly thatwould often

build fins in the garage?Who needed the key to the skate board shed to get his overhalls ?

national news photos on the freeway in the middle o’ the night

in a a police chase dooooing 92 miles an hour…

there are some great freeway down grades waiting for this new unlimited venue

a lead car and a chase car

and a movie crew

stunt men would line up for this audition.

you may even be in a position to demand a fee…

ah but I am distracted on occasion…

…ambrose…

Something Ambrose just said gave me an idea for you, Hix - you need to be able to do Stand-Up Propulsion with this thing. Maybe a pole-vault pole with an Air-Jordan on the bottom? Or a Chuck Taylor for that old-skool vibe

In fact…is anyone using skateboards & poles to practice stand-up paddle?

Hey Ambrose,

Tow bar to come, still need to see how long it is from the axle to the end, then I’ll build a clip/bolt on one.

Should look like a skateboard skeleton this weekend…wwwwoooooooo hhhhhooooo

honestly Hicksy… you must be NUCKING FUTS!!!

I LOVE IT!!!

how much more “STOKE” can 1 guy have?!!!

awesome mate… GO FOR IT!!!

It’s home now, got a flat bed truck to bring it back, it was almost too long for it!!

Obligitory skateboard shot…

It’s freaking HUGE…

Earlier in the day…

The regime is to finish the deck and flip (!!!) it over and do the major structual work to tighten it up in the flex department…

The deck movement is fantastic… one of my girls can turn it lock to lock with very little effort.

The girls have been all over it…I’ve had to block it off with bricks to stop the deck from turning side to side…way too much fun…

I’ve given it a go and it will turn easily with my weight…the shocks are doing their job really well…

This board will have a totally wooden skin with rounded rails and an amazing clear finish…I’ll keep you’all posted…
