I am leaving for the gold coast in two weeks and i am glad you guys explained that she was saying deck and not dck. Otherwise I would have been walking around colongatta saying nice dick to all the skateboarders.
COOL !
Don’t know how I missed this one !
Good one on you Grant,I hope you get the title !
Thanks Herb, I know I’ve got it in the bag…
If you’re interested, this is what Guiness sent me as guidelines for the attempt…
See attached…
I’ll let you all know how it all goes, thanks to everyone who has followed this, if it wasn’t for you I wouldn’t have had the drive to go that little bit further…
Lot’s of pics too…
Took the board down to my girl’s school today and had an audience of 800 adults and kids…
Had a local MP and a cool young bloke Clinton (Chipper) Walton who has been a team skater for 16 years…mind you he’s only 30…
The previous Guiness World Record was 12’ long, 4’ wide and 2 1/2’ high
When my board was measured (with a brand new tape) it was 20’ 3/4" long, 4’ 11" wide and 2’ 11 3/4" high.
Once I submit the paperwork for this they will send back a certificate to say I’ve got the record…
STOKED, and thank you to all you people who supported me along the way, it really made a difference to know others had the same mindset as me…
Video to come next week after I go to work upload it…
Awesome!!! you’re are THE Man now!
(never knew a world-record holder before)
For a moderator, let me ask: is this an example of moderation?
Kidding. Good on you, maaaaate…!
yew! goodonyamate!
Congratulations Hicksy.
What are your plans for the board now.
I can’t imagine anyone who’s followed this saga not sporting a big grin for you right now, Grant. I know I am.
Good fun. Well done!
thats cool!!! buy some guiness beer to celebrate.
THats awesome !!
Hee Hee Hee!
good goin’ Hicksey!
you are the MAN!
this is so awsome!
Thanks for the congrats people,
Balsa, I’ve never done things in moderation, it’s either all or nothing…
Woody, I plan to make it available for promo work, events etc…the team skate guy “Chipper” is really interested in using it for a store opening…other opportunities might crop up…
The future? I plan on breaking the record for the most amount of people on a skateboard, I reckon I could fit 25 adults on it…we’ll see…
Video available early next week…
Congratulations, that’s a well deserved title. I think I heard something about the world’s largest halfpipe somewhere…
If’n you layer the people twenty five is a very low potential
if every body faces out you could get at least 75 people
paris in front of the louvre
in london in front of the tower
in Vladavostock in front of a gyeser
in bejing it tinman square
in cape town on table rock
it the south pole
tailsliding on a glacier.
you was always de man nd
now the naysayers gotta eat there woids.
power to the prolitariat.
go hicksy go.
…ambrose…
now we need the worlds biggest skater
Thanks for the kind words Ambrose, hmmm a world tour, as if that’s gonna happen…
Oh well…
Here is the video of the lunchtime entertainment
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QxU8zsIuvgg
One of the highlights was putting a couple of “Special” children on the board, although they couldn’t speak their smiles just made me melt…they were so excited…
Made me feel very humble indeed…
Has anyone kickflipped it yet?
No, I’d need 8 people on the tail to do that, it weighs 350kg…
Probably give it a go sometime though…
Damn, that is a monster!
IT’S OFFICIAL!!!
