surfboards are too cheap hence the need for cheaper and cheaper cost effective ways to produce to compete against mass produced imported stuff with cheap labour ?? or cheap finance ?? from people outside surfing …
also the status quo is still dictated by those in the winners circle …
and then its just simple economics and tell your story …
but at the end of the day , you get what you pay for …

good materials , made bad = bad deal …
bad materials , made bade = guess …
good materials, made good = more expensive or a con …
