" nice job Clippo, that's a lot of work for an old guy like u mate "
[just as well you added 'nice work' ?!]
otherwise , I think that line from the 'Caddyshack' movie said it well .....
" I gets NO RESPECT , I tells ya ! NO RESPECT !"
[as an aside ...Coli , as the average age of users here is easily 40yo plus ,
this would make you one of the "junior" newbies in our ranks ha ]
cheers !

...this is just for YOU , Mr. 'Mudybeach'...enjoy , Bob !!
the 'copper' fin panel...
prise off the panel...
peel off the masking tape , and leave in the sun to dry out the previously taped areas ...
the 'Aztec Gold ' tint , combined with Chris's carbon fibre 'pre-preg' mat .....[it looks more like lime cordial colour?? I think I'll try a panel with just the aztec gold , no carbon fibre , next ...]
And , a green tint panel , WITHOUT carbon fibre ....
cheers !
ben
I need to move to oz so you can turn the 5 boxes of glass cuttings into some sweet panels. Maybe I will finally get around to it.
"5 boxes of glass cuttings" ??
what size ?
how many layers [of cloth] in each box ??
cheers girvin

q: with the photos I've posted here occassionally on how to lay up a fin panel [or two haha] ...WHAT is stopping you doing it ?? (.....three words of advice ....."go for it !! ")
there just scraps from cutting out lams. there is probly 5 panels in there if you sort through it all. I will start sorting and making ding repair kits as thank u’s to my regular customers.
cheers Girvin !
if you can get , say thirty to forty 5x7" and 6x8" and or 8x10" layers , that would be plenty for fin thickness for fcs . For glassons you can use less layers.
If you get hold of a chopping mat , a stanley knife , and a ruler , make yourself a few cardboard templates of those panel sizes....
Then try to find a large pane of glass , tape it off for at least those three sizes of panels , and you will be set up and away !! ...your future side interest of fins may take off !! It WOULD be nice to have more people here hand laying up fibreglass fins!
cheers !
ben [finatic]
yooo Chippo, mine is at sun (UV resin) at night i’ll put some pics
Cheers
thanks colin !
I look forward to seeing it ...
cheers mate
ben
hi Noe !
well, just to let you know .....your panel has now been templated and cut out ....
cheers mate !
ben
[....with the sun directly behind it , it looks like this !...]
Brilliant!
is that for the twinzer ? keen to see the template and size for the twinzer …some epic looking panels amongst them Chip, wish I was closer coz I’d be keen for some sort of barter deal…
hi Mark !
...yes , I DO recall Noe mentioning four fins ! [these ones here , are certainly big TWIN fin-sized templates , eh ?!]
If I can get some more matching cloth from you , Noe, I intend to make a smaller , narrower tipped , more raky [and thinner foiled] version of them [for myself] , as I love the colour and look of this particular brown ... it almost looks 'wood grainy' ?! And , with the offcuts from two panels , Noe , you could then have a coupla one-tabbers matching , to complete a twinzer set !! Whaddya reckon , mate ?! Sound OKAY ? [if you have any small twinzer template you like ... then , please feel free to send THAT , too, eh ?]
cheers !
ben
Hi guys, Yeah chip that sounds great, ill try and get some more in the post for ya this week…
That front fin should be around 5 3/8" Base and just under 6" in height , will draw up a template for a similar fin for the front Twinzer at about 3 inch base and 3" height, Have got two tabs on my twinzer but one tab would work too…
hi Noe !
thanks very much for that [sending the extra cloth ...is it easy to tell from the photo WHICH one , I hope?]
so , will the twinzer shape pretty much be a scaled down version of the BIG fins , then ??
is it two fcs plugs for the twinzer , or another probox ? [I can leave the base uncut again for you , if you like a one slot front side fin setup ? your call....]
Did you still want as thick a leading edge as you mentioned in your 'p.m.', , too , mate ?
cheers for the feedback !
ben
