Here you go Mitch, she also looks good next to my Skil 676 that I got from you.

Hay Matt how’s it going. I just popped on the purchase of the Casica Bosch mod. planer. I was going to put the vac system in first, then save up to buy the planer. But I kept looking at it, and looking, and looking at it, again, and again. Then you posted this little comment. I just couldn’t take it anymore. So I bought the planer first, and now I have to save up for the vac system. I need ideas for the vac system. So if you or anyone else has some comments and photos of your systems, please P.M. them to me.

Thanks and best regards to all: Mitch

Hi Mitch,  Barry has one of the best vac setups I’ve seen.  He’s done several posts showing it so check those out.  He has additional pipes on the floor with on/off gates so you can just sweep dust right into the system. Using a hose with a flexible cuff will allow quick changes between planers.  There’s many options for handling the power cord, and a lot depends on how stretchy your hose is and how much slack in the cord will be needed.  The port on the Bosch is 1-1/2" OD, and we have 3-wire grounding so you don’t need a grounded hose.  You should however ground the PVC pipes since the plastic will hold a charge and is a fire/explosion hazard with wood or foam dust.  Lots of info on the Rockler woodworking site about grounding.

Wow!

Is February planer month?

I counted no less than seven planer threads.

Have I died and gone to planer heaven?

Love it!

Keep posting boys.

Hitachi/Clark F-30 shortened with upright handle mod.

My current collection soon to be joined by the modified Bosch.

Modified Makita

Wow, Dave. Great collection of planers with modifications! Do you have a favorite?  Mike

Currently the original small Clark Hitachi which I did the handle mod on. Modified Bosch is due in today.

Dave,

What model is that Makita?

Love your “Modified” collection.

Barry, It’s a KP0810.  It was a candidate for the mod like the Bosch but the front shoe design didn’t lend itself to adaption.  The depth adjustment isn’t that bad and it takes a little more than 1/8" cut stock. I put a screw in the knob to limit the amount of rotation and it still cuts about 1/8".  It has the same double blade setup as the Bosch and with a 7-1/2 amp motor it has plenty of power.  Had to shim the rear base to get it to not cut at zero.  I have drums on my Skil and 2 of the little Hitachis but can’t mow stringers with them like blades.

I got my Barry/Pete Bosch in the mail today but haven’t tried it yet.  Been changing timing belt and water pump on the wifey’s Miata.

**Mike came and hand delivered my new planer this morning, brought a blank with it and watched me test it out. On feed back given buy Kazuma they did a slight mod. to the front of the rear foot by easing the leading edge closest to the cutter head. The planer is great. I had no problem adapting to it. Mike at MPH was Great too. **

Man Pete,

Your becoming a popular guy.

Are you buying these planers by the container yet?

Can I have your autograph?

I told you guys,

This planer is the Sh*t!

Mitch, you need a Vacuum set-up.

Snowstorms are messy.

You know what they say,

Once you go Vac., you don’t go back!

HAHA!

Front planer is a modified Porter Cable.  It has a Skil 100 front shoe mounted to it.  It mounted easily to the planer.  Planer runs like a champ with the 11 amp motor and spiral cutter head.  It is a mowing machine that cuts 1/2".  I use this mainly when I need to get blanks down to thickness.  It gives the Skil a break and lessens the amount of passes. The second planer is a 7.5 Amp Skil 100.  The only mod to it is an abrasive cutter head.  Great for cleaning planer marks and close tolerance blanks.  The third Planer is a 7.5 Amp Skil 100 with the turbo dust shoot (wish I had bought more).  It  is my daily driver.  It has the clicker removed and the shoe has been slotted to get a 1/4" cut.  I am also lucky to have some back ups.  I can’t imagine using any other planer.  I have an original Hitachi that I got 20 years ago.  I use it for nose and tail blocks, templates and an ocassional door.

More pics please!!!  Close ups?  Process to swap out parts???  Great idea…

I just purchase a Makita vac with on board ETL. Vac will turn on when planer trigger is pulled and turns off 5 seconds after the planer stops. a 30gal. open top steal drum with lid and clamping ring, and an Oneida Dust Deputy cyclonic dust separator. When it comes I’ll have to figure out the plumbing and hose attachments.

I’d like to know exactly how the hell did you install the front of a skil 100 on that P.C. 653 W.T.H. It’s like Frankenstein’s monster man. Show me please.

Just got this. 29lbs, huge. Great rear ehaust system.

Chip exhaust out the back
