one more for my quiver…almost finished, but im too excited about it to not share
Spence, how refreshing is now a days watching someone surfing not just with an “alternative equipement”, but also developing a different style!
Thanks for those pics, they’re very, very refreshing.
Blasphemy, but meant in good fun: that’s a board that might be fun to experimentally quadify with some nifty fins or other.
Post hull pics…
Here are some pics of a board Kirk Putnam just got for “Kyle”. Kirk asked me to post these for him. Please direct your questions to him.
Looks pretty sweet. How deep is that hull? What are the rails like? I’d like to see a rocker profile shot as well.
7’4’’ N 19’’ W 23’’ T 15’’ DIRTY HULL FOR KYLE.
OK, here’s the queastion:
As a hull gets wider, does it get shorter? and what are the riding characteristics of 23" wide?
More hull pics (via KP):
7’6’’ matt template thats 7’6’’ 19.5 23.5 15.5
(That’s a fatty…)
A different 7’6" but similar dims? Looks a little narrower.
And Matt Miller steps up to the plate with baseball bat in hand…
Matt Miller’s 8’7" (“for Kirk Putnam” to give to Matt to test ride…)
Those are official Vaquero de las Olas boots.

I came across an early John Bradbury transitional displacement hull board. It’s one of the originals. Interested in seeing it? I don’t want to break the Liddle flow.
Thanks to Jim for posting those. Liddle writes those dims on the shaped blank like most shapers, after they are glassed they are a bit wider just under a 1/4 or so. I got a duplicate 8’7’’ to replace the test board. Greg cant make these because hes not setup to do bigger boards and shipping is a problem. MC, 23’’ is just a number , most of the boards I ride now are 23’', those boards arent as maneuverable as narrow boards but they seem to feel better and trim better as I get older, not that big of a difference.
Skip, post it, John was makin boards for Jeff Hackman around that time he was way ahead of the pack. He is missed by many.
Kirk,
I’m still curious if Kyle’s Dirt template board also has a “Dirt” bottom hull or if it is just the standard Liddle hull bottom. Does it have the hull farther back and flatter up front?
Jim
Jim , It has a bit flatter hull the last 18’'.
Thanks KP…
Matt,
What about your 8’0"? Didn’t you get a new 8’0" before the 8’7"?
Jim
Jim hes still in the backcountry, bet it was buttass cold lastnite. It was a 8’8’’ Paul Gross.

yeah yeeaah! ( woohoo-hoo!)
Hey is that Miles on his new KJ? Nice shot!
Matt said he got an 8’ roundtail Liddle (back in October 2007 - bottom of page 19 of this thread). Just wondering if he’s still surfing it.
I just picked up a barely used 7’6" Liddle from Saf. Very fun board! I think I like it more than my 7’6".
