JShank and PDiamond

see you again

Queeeeeeequeg

http://www.vaquerosdelasolas.com/That's a shame… Sentimental and ugly, not even funny. Marc Andreini is a top shaper, no question, and the Vaqueros logo surely refers to a colourful personal history. Who ever is responsible for this please reconsider, and remove it…I’m sorry to have seen it.

j

you don’t know the history of the logo do you because mark andrieni did not even come up with it . I believe it was KP . These shirts and stuff have been available for years in them there these parts, now making them available to the world.

quick history-marc and kp go back some 40 years surfing and building boards together at yater’s , and other places as well. about 11-12 years ago kp came up with the idea of vdlo-because a lot of us, including marc(who’s family is BIG into horses) surf and like riding horses and working on ranches(or own them).kp then got with marc to come up with the vdlo hull board that you now see here and there… the concept may be ugly, but it’s real…

I’m getting a sticker for my truck, for sure… but question: where’s the vaqueros croc-style shoes?

KP’s roundup will be boards i suppose. looking forward to see that.

seriously - i think the site’s well done – two essential elements to california culture and heritage… surfing and buckaroos/cattlemen.

( KP I want a franchise for here - this country’s Interior culture is definately Ganadero!)

Wow…that reads like the way so many people think when they see veteran surfers…

jdo2, I suspect you may think the website and philosophy was some kind of a satire or goof? I didn’t take it that way (and of course I might be wrong, but…)

If so, honest mistake…the current reality of southern/central California and surfing is such that someone who wasn’t there over the course of time really has a hard time understanding what things were like as recently as 25-30 years ago. The history of California, and surfing too really, has been one of accelerated loss on many fronts. As the “information age” progresses this trend is assimilated into general culture, leaving us with the collective memory of an Outlook Express inbox folder.

Think of it as a view into pockets of parrallel dimensions, existing with one foot within the modern world but another in a place of dreams…the California Two-Step…

I don’t like the way it looks. It just seems tacky, and facile. I feel great respect for the culture you guys have created and have really enjoyed participating in it, since the 70s. Personally I would like to see more creativity, more ambitious content, certainly more stoke! So the culture can live on, worldwide…

jdo2 , I didnt post that link, sorry you dont like it , or get it ! Man dont we have more important things to worry about these days, If you dont like it DONT!!! LOOK AT IT, done deal. Post your hull pics!

From Liddle Surfboards website flexfin page on flex patterns of fins made by different people:

I use fins from three different manufacturers: True Ames, Bahne aka Fins Unlimited and now Fiberglass Fin Company. The Ames fins flex more in the tip of the fin, i refoil the Bahne fins to flex more down into the base as do the Fiberglass Fin Co. fins. Chuck Ames at True Ames made fins for me in the 70’s and foiled them himself during that era. The current fins he provides have more layers in the lamination than the Bahne or FFCo. fins and the foils are absolutely symetrical. The Bahne fins allow me to adjust the foil and experiment with different flex patterns. The new FFCo. fins are foiled so that they provide the “concave” flex as shown in the upper photo. All have their place and provide a choice for the frontsider and backsider in various surfing condtions. To see pics of this go to the site and scroll down.

i din’t think kp had any decision in how the web site came out.i think changes could be made. as for the roundup, i think it’s kp in a corral with a bunch of groms , all with a stubbies under arm and kp brainwashing them in the ways of the hull…

i love the site- keep up the good work! the intersection of farming, ranching, and surfing is beautiful. all related to intimacy with land and landscape. it is a simple connection for me.

good answer ryan…

keep to the high road man…

i love my 6.8…unfortunately

after just getting her back from felix at sand dollar repair

i ding it again…dang!

For families that work on historic Spanish Land Grant ranches, ride in any one of four Los Padres National Forrest Wilderness areas, surf and build their own equipment, and have world class surfers in the mix, is a totally unique and wonderful thing. On any given day, it’s work surf or ride, or all three. I read a great article in the Surfers Journal on just this subject. These guys are as well connected to the stewardship of the land as they are to the ocean.

If you look into old Spanish artwork, their logo fits very well.

another reference to the california ranching/surf experience is in one california day in the malloy segment.there are many central cal ranchers/cowboys that surf. makes sense as many of their ranches are on the coast, with waves right in front of them and the herd(i’m talking about many other places besides the hollister/bixby deal). one famous pipe ripper from the 70’s has a primo ranch in central cal, as do others…there are a lot of similarities in the lifestyle and immersion in nature and tuned into it…

jim- that’s footage of the man himself…Mr. G.L…

look at the picture e-pac posted of the boys. do you want to take issue with them?? they ride, they surf. decades of experience there in that photo…

… i’ve heard them guys are pitmasters too.

Here are some shots of a 7’0" Kirk is taking to Mollusk. He said he has two like this for Mollusk. I don’t know the dimensions. If any questions, please ask Kirk.

The dims are 7’0’’ x 22 x 18/3/8n and 15 t.
