post Hull pics

I was down in J Bay when Kit was riding the hull(think it was a Liddle)…he is a really good surfer and rode it well…but I recall him saying that it was not quite what he needed or wanted for the wave. He was happier with other boards he had with him…one was a Pavel if memory serves me… Last year he had an Andreni mini-gun…and rode it in some of the best j bay in recent years.

yeah that tsj stubby article showed “kit” riding a 6’10" hull at j-bay… one he’s trimming… another shot he’s got that board buried to the stringer.

there are a couple of reefs in the area and when they break all that power(compared to the points) really gets a 7 footer flyin’ it takes all you have to stay with the bugger as it soaks up the juice and flies!

sick one, huh… i met up with Klaus today at Malibu and he brought this to share. it’s 6’2 just like mine. we paddled out and switched up boards so i could try his 6’8. i think he made his right after he made one the same size for Gamboa. that’s his daily driver and i asked him to shape me one after getting a few slides in on it. it’s a nice midrange size with a ton of glide. sadly, today the surf was …

… nothing like it’s been since monday

yup …new camera?

more like a Diablo Rojo! Man i’d love to give something like that a try. Something for you Stateside folks who are always talking about ‘getting away’ … you don’t have access to stuff like that usually in most of these so-called ‘paradises’ (overseas)… exchange of ideas, boards, technology. It just amazes my how you guys can try this and that like it was nothing.

Is that board ( rojo) KJ’s own personal? you ment’d he also had a 6’8".

great post, QQ.

he took out his 6’8 so i could try it, it’s a lot knifier than the 6’10 he made for tim elsner (now mine) and i wanted to give it a run. when i was first interested in getting a hull it was because of a 6’6 i saw at mollusk venice, i ended up on a 6’8 but i wanted something with less of a beachbreaker template - a fuller nose would’ve been nicer to trim and turn on i thought. you wouldn’t believe how many hulls are at malibu day to day and the people that have them are glad to talk about them and some are even willing to lend them out for waves. it’s pretty cool, only problem being the population

the Diablo board is soon to be up for grabs but i don’t know what store it’s bound to… ? he’s selling through 3 different places now i think

too bad the clip of bowler has him surfing shorter beachbreak type waves ( or jetty).

Greg now has a second clip of Bowler surfing Rincon.

AH! There was that pic! I remember you scrambling to take the new cam out of your wetsuit! Sick pic!!
